I just moved my system partition

Unread postby Ericmopar » Tue Jun 02, 2015 4:13 am

I moved my system partition. I've never done something like that before.
My only fubar, was in forgetting to change the new system partition to "Active".
I pulled out hair for about 20 to 30mins before I realized I had forgot to mark the new System Reserved partition "Active" and to tell Windows to not assign a drive letter before rebooting.
At first my rig was giving a "cannot find boot mngr" or something to that effect and wouldn't boot up.
Thank God for me making a System Repair Disk in advance, so I could boot this sucker up and see what was wrong in the storage management tools.
Thank God I have enough experience to take a deep breath, shout an expletive and then remember to boot from the repair disc.
Anyhow, I can now do whatever I want, as far as things like installing Linux for a dual boot system.
New System Reserved and 50GB partitions in place and waiting to be used. *!greengrin!*

Better advice has never been given. Thanks Eric.
I'm a UNIX Sysadm and I learned this lesson a long time ago.....

If you can't reach out right now and touch a current System Repair Disk for your system.....STOP and make one right now!

Yep!
I've never needed a System Repair Disk until now, but it was worth it's weight in gold when I did need it. !*YAAA*!
