Thanks for the information, I actually would have a very small budget but I have a contact who can build me a custom desktop rig for under the price of a WiiU. But I'd like to stick with a mobile computer as they are less bulky and easier to move around. So my current budget is a few hundred dollars. And I'm learning new stuff from you guys, thanks for enlightening me with this new information. hey is there anyway to make money with TS2015 like perhaps testing routes or locos? Just asking as I've always loved trains and gaming and have been gaming since the NES was in its prime and when SNES was new at the time. So why not combine the two passions and help the simulator.

I don't believe any of the beta testers here are compensated. At the very most they might get the content they test for free. Most beta testing in the software industry these days is done for free. A big reason is because there are tons of people who are more than willing to do it for free just to get to play with the software early and to help possibly shape it's development through feedback.

Can't say I didn't ask lol, it was just a thought. I'd definitely be game for testing though. Aside from that what would happen if I dropped my hard drive into a more powerful machine? That would keep my data intact. Just speculating here.

Yeah... putting the hard drive in another computer should be fine. Just use it as a storage drive for backups of data you find important. You can backup to USB thumb drives or DVD discs too.

For extremely important data (tax records, scans of important documents like land deeds, old family videos and pictures to pass on to future generations) I highly recommend gold plated archival DVD discs. The best quality DVD burn discs last an average of 15-16 years before data degradation of the media sets in. Cheaper discs... even less. Gold plated ones are guaranteed 100 years before data loss can start. I bought a 10-pack of them for $50 back in 2009. Store your archives in a fire proof safe box.

I figured out the problem! It was having Krenull's UsWagon sound pack installed, it was destabilizing the game to the point it would crash. I checked the integrity of the game's cache and I dowloaded 11 files. My game is running smoother now. Too bad I can't have the wagon sounds in the game those are really nice sounds.

I doubt the problem was with that sound pack, it is used by a lot of people and I have heard no complaint.
Verifying the local cache fixed your problem, and now I'd bet you could reinstall Krellnut's pack and it would work just fine.

Based on your PMs with me, your computer sounds like it's on the way out. That or the hard drive. Just read my thread chronicling my journey with the failures of my last laptop to the triumphs of my new one that replaced it (although I still have the old one around)....

Ya gotta work on getting your friend to piece together that desktop that's within your limited budget that we talked about. You are wasting your time on your old laptop at this point. Once you transfer or backup data from your laptop's hard drive, I'd do a full factory restore or fresh OS install on the drive and put it back into the laptop. It might be salvageable as basically a netbook for on the go.

Thanks I used the installation disk to repair windows and it works better now, every one in a while it won't boot but I can get it to boot using the settings from the previous boot, and I might use the disk to roll it back to an earlier time before it started to fail to boot if I had to but for now it works just fine. What can I say it's an older laptop.

Just read your post and I remember using my laptop and it used to over heat all the time to the point to shutdown within 40 mins of use at performance settings. That was before I bought a cooling pad for it. And I think the overheating did some damage because I now have to use a PC keyboard to use it as the built in keyboard lost some functional keys and maybe even CPU damage, I might see if I can rebuild it with a better CPU and GPU. But I think my laptop has just about had it. Thing is I don't have the room for a desktop. That's why I'd rather go with a laptop. I will set the settings to balanced to se if it makes a difference. thanks for the insight.

I had the installation disk and used it to repair windows and it boots up fine now. Just updating now but I can get a custom desktop rig built for 200. I will wait till I have a spare 200, then get it built. Then I'd have to rearrange my desk to make room for it. But not now, till then my laptop is good to go.
