low fps at low gfx and high gfx

Any reason I would get the same 10-20 fps at highest and lowest gfx? I'm thinking good gfx card not enough ram?
I'm running Gtx560 to 2gb gfx and 8gb ram 3.0ghz dual core CPU

This has me confused

Have you changed anything in the NVIDIA control panel? I know some people get good results by tweaking things in NVIDIA Inspector, but whenever I tried it, I always got bad results. In the end, I set nearly everything back to let the application (RW itself) decide, except for adaptive V-sync, and got much better fps.

What version of Nvidia drivers are you using, Mike? I changed up to the R331's (331.82's) a few weeks ago and got an extra 10fps out of Stevens. Everything at max except procedural flora (off) and water turned down. V Sync on in the Nvidia control panel, all other stuff set to "application controlled".

A 2Gb card and 8Gb of RAM should be fine.

OK, first off, I don't recommend using that Geforce Experience thing. Seen it cause a lot of problems, like your mouse cursor disappearing or jittery. None of that tells me what version drivers you are running, either.

Right click on an empty spot on your desktop. Choose Screen Resolution. Now click on Advanced Settings, then the Properties button, now the Drivers tab. Post the Driver Version number.

When I install a new Nvidia driver, I choose a custom install. I un-check the 3D stuff, and that GeForce Experience thingy so that none of that gets installed.

if that is the GTX 560TI that I sent you then it has only 1GB VRAM on board and if you are running a largish monitor ie >22 inch with TSX on it needs over 1GB VRAM and that may cause the rig to slow down in certain situations. Its brother card, which I still have, runs TS2014 with TSX OFF quite happily on a 24" monitor, but TSX on is a different story - slow downs and stutters.

I'm not sure of the term GFX or where the 2GB GFX is coming from????

WRT to Physical RAM TS2014 is a 32-bit app and on a 64-bit OS can address a maximum of 4GB Physical RAM so 8 GB is plenty.

Chris his screenie above shows quite clearly he is running the 331.65 driver?

OOps I sent you my best card - yes it has 2GB VRAM!!
On that same route I am only showing 12% cpu usage (i7 2600K @ 4.2GHz) and a total RAM usage of 4.8GB - 2.5 to the OS and 2.3 GB to TS 2013, with a video RAM usage of 1.4GB.
You are running at 90% because of the way the AMD cpu processes data compared to Intel.
I would say that your processor is throttling the video card.

I have sent you a pm - yes you may need to OC the cpu if possible - not sure how you do that on an AMD rig.
However that is a low end cpu and IMHO won't run TS2014 with TSX ON effectively you could try reducing settings and use TSX OFF???
That 90% loading shows a processor that is under a lot of strain with not much in reserve.
On the latest WCML over Shap I see a maximum of 33% cpu usage and that is as high as I have seen in this sim.

So ditch the CPU or change the settings for the CPU? I can open it up to 4 cores rather then 2 and over clock it to 3.4 GHz.

Umm, you can't get 4 cores out of an AMD dual core CPU. With Intel and Hyper-Threading you could, but that means buying a whole new system. Over-clocking might help, but since I don't and never have done it, I can't say. I do know that TS only uses one core of my quad core AMD Phenom II 970, and it will push it to 80 or 90%. Been that way for years, RSC never did come thru with their promise of using multi core CPU's. I suppose maybe a program like "Set Affinity" could force TS to use more than one core, again I never tried it so don't know.

Mike, your motherboard is a Socket AM3+ so if you look around a Phenom II quad 925 is a perfect fit. I just found one for JP on Flea Bay for $40, tested. All the new AMD Athlon quads are in the $100 range to start.

when you go shopping for a new CPU mike, keep in mind that for gaming, more than four cores is a waste of money.
If you have a AM3+ mother board, you have some powerful new choices. If it's just a AM3 board, your choices will be limited.
Some of the AM3+ cpus will run on the older AM3 mobo, but will lose features.

What is your reccomendation? I only have about $200 to put in to this and I need a new HDD an maybe faster ram?

As I said, look around on E Bay, find a nice Phenom II 925, 955, or 970. They are $50 to $100 with shipping. A new 1Gb drive is about the same (I don't trust used hard drives). I think the consensus about RAM speed is that in the end, going to a faster set is more money than it's worth. In the real world, you're not gonna notice a whole lot of difference. Running a benchmark program, maybe you'll notice better numbers, but numbers really don't mean squat.
