1937-1938 EMC E1

Decided to attempt to start building the E1 diesel locomotive and so far the shaping of the body is coming out great.

I am happy of how it's coming out so far.

Will be working on this until we do more on the steam locomotive tutorial.

Slow down there buddy, don't rush through it! I know alot of us are impatient, but Its got a good chance of looking better if you take it slowly! Make RSC jealous! Just my life experience!

eh? My Uboat is still a year out (thus no WIP shots). I work on it between super-detailing jobs and RCAP, the GP40-2 and the FM TrainMaster. At the moment I am working through the steam locomotive tutorial.

Rounded the part where the nose meets the cab section to be correct.

Still have a lot of work to do on just the basic shape before I even think about making the windows and things like that.

This is the last progress for tonight, and by the way, I'm following smm's diesel locomotive tutorial.

Also, I'm building it in a half and then going to mirror the object to get the other side of the engine later on when I'm ready for the right side of the engine.

Yes, I plan for it to be freeware and use it to launch my new developer name, Streamliners.



I estimate that it will be a while before the basic shaping is even complete, so far it's getting close to how it should be, but it still isn't perfect.


P.S, did a test to see how the shape looks with the other side mirrored and on, how does it look to you so far as far as shape is concerned.

Corrected the center line, bringing it to the point that it's supposed to be.

And here's what the real EMC E1 from 1937 and 1938 looked like.

The EMC E1 was built as a passenger train by Electro-Motive Corporation of La Grange, Illinois in 1937 and 1938 and was built for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

Are you also going to be building the "B" unit?

Most likely next, but it most likely will be done as a separate engine and released afterwards, after the A unit is released.

Will have to have someone else paint it though because I can't paint worth a flip. All I would be likely to be able to do is a plain blank paint scheme.

Some more progress. Made the front plow and have started to cut out the windows.

To cut out the windows I first divide the lines and then draw new lines, then I cut out the space to slowly form the windows.

Looks squished. Width should be more or less 10'.
