WIP SD60 Repaints

Unread postby roinuj » Sat Dec 29, 2012 3:26 pm

Hi all. I've been a little quiet lately with work and the Christmas holidays. I wanted to share a couple new projects based on Eyein12's SD60 I've been working on. Not sure when they will be ready for release but I'll keep you posted with my progress here.

First is an NS repatched Ex- Conrail based on LINK

Another is a CN version based on LINK

Very nice job! as I do recall though, the CN SD60's have a black roof. I know that these are WIP's but just wanted to make shure that was known.

ah yes, here you go:

Suhweet! Looking forward to these.

And I'll just leave these here, maybe give you some ideas. Knowing your penchant for weathering, some SOO might be up your alley.

also note that the ditch lights are red on the real unit where as you currently have them painted black in the screenshot you posted earlier. I really cant wait to run this! we have seen a few of them lately around here but the excitement of these has been toned down because CN's new AC units started rolling this way a few weeks ago.

yea, CN's order of ES44AC's and SD70ACe's have started to leak their way out to the northern coal country! !*YAAA*! (ES44AC's are #2800-2834, SD70ACe's are #8100-8129)

Quick update with some corrections.

1.) Black roof.
2.) Orange Ditch Lights.
3.) Hatches added to bottom of short hood.

Couple areas I'm still struggling with and maybe mdurdan or eyein12 can help. I can not for the life of me find the some items to clean up the repaint.

1.) Grab Irons (long hood and front of short hood)
2.) Short hood railing (with out changing the long hood railings).
3.) Details around the head light on front of the cab.

I still have a weird texture on the cab which is picking up details from the long hood (not sure what it is but the rectangular item on the side of the cab) . I'm not sure if I'll be able to do anything with it as I think its in the mapping.

I think when I get time, I'll add a child item for the sun shades. Just have to remember how to use 3DC again (I hardly use it)

mdurdan wrote:If you want I can send you over all of the variants I did, you would just have to take the texture maps and adapt them to fit the other maps and boom their done *!lol!*

Thanks, if you can send them I can see what I can use. One thing I think I need to do is spend some time and work out a grey template.

It also seems that on the real CN unit the AC is painted black like the longhood, also the number boards have their colours reversed in comparison to the default SD60 (white with black numbers for default and CN has them black with white numbers) other than not having sun shades or the winterisation hatch I would say its looking like an exact copy! im really excited for this!

I still have a few default things to change.

I must admit, I think I had too much Christmas cheer to miss the number board colours..... !*roll-laugh*!

The winterization hatch shouldn't be too much trouble to add.

Thanks for pointing out those. I end up spending so much one in Photoshop fine tuning, I miss some obvious things. :D
