1930's Metropolis Scene

Unread postby jpetersjr » Mon Dec 24, 2012 10:29 pm

A new building I'm working on, there will be more skyscrapers very soon. Including my 110 story skyscraper that I've been working on.

NYC District Building 1 V2.jpg

Also, for most, if not all of the buildings I'm going to install night windows as well. Since really I want to see them lit up at night like along the busiest parts of downtown New York City at night.

I have been to New York several times by the way with my father, who drives a semi for a living. Also have seen parts of Chicago and other places.

I have TSX off and on the standard have RW set to maximum settings.

After the new update boy my textures on my new building have come out looking awesome. It looks like they might have updated something on the way the textures look in game.

The building is now in the game and ready for the route from the 30's.

.....Working on my 110 story skyscraper.
With a new tactic I'm trying out it will allow for even the most extreme designed skyscraper with tons of ledges and it will still remain real good on poly level since the wall texture is divided in to 5 story, 10 story high textures.

In the early 1900's with the invention of how to manufacture steel cheaply and the invention of the elevator the Vertical city was born and the steel made it possible to build a strong enough inner frame to hold up the walls so the walls didn't have to take the weight, so it was possible to add as many floors as one desired and reach for the skies.

It's actually already half finished. I think after I finish this and get it into the game I'll go ahead and finish the airship and then send it your way.

By the way, the skyscraper is now finished and in the game, it looks awesome.

In the 1930's it was known as an airship, much bigger then a blimp. It was over 300 feet long and over ten stories high. Also unlike a blimp airships zepppelins had a frame made out of steel or wood. They had several decks inside that held the passenger quarters and the crew quarters. As well, some even had it's own movie theater and concert hall.

When the Hindenburg went down in 1936 the zeppelins were discontinued and were pulled from service for use. As of today there are no surviving zeppelins.

Next on the list is to finally finish the zeppelin, and there will also be a flying version as well to sail over the RW skies heading for New York City.

The next skyscraper will probably be 100 stories high and then after that a couple 90 story buildings and some 80 and 70 story buildings then after I build enough and somehow get night windows to work on them correctly I'll release them.

Still have a lot of work to do on it before it will be finished, but this one is 100 stories high.

The new NYC District Office Building 2 is now finished and in the game, it looks great and came out the correct size.

The building is a total of 100 stories high.

Next is a building being built, a skyscraper under construction with the steel beams still yet visible as they are being mounted to where they will stay as the building slowly goes up.

All this week I'll be attempting to put night windows on these.

And will be hoping 3D Crafter won't destroy my files.

Though before I do anything else on them I'll be saving it as a different model so hopefully the original won't get damaged by 3DC acting batty like usual.

After that I want to figure out how to get my street light to work in the game so I can then make the lighting work so later I can place spot lights on the buildings to light them up like New Year's Eve.
