Reno ReTrac

Unread postby DaveDewhurst » Sun Dec 23, 2012 11:17 am

Hi,
Ive been enjoying the updated Donner Pass and decided to add some more buildings to Reno.
It was only then I realised that the Reno of today is very different (TBH I didnt even realise that the RW Donner Pass was set in the 90's *!embar*! )
"I can do that", I thought

Reno Station (still needs bits) looking west

Under the carpark looking east

Still a lot to do, need to hide all the backfill behind the concrete.

I'm tring to limit myself to only use DP assets as much as possible so some artistic license is needed
(I'll keep it as real as possible though)

Its a clone of the RSC version so immune from verifying.

I assume your just doing the Reno Area correct? So this will be another stand alone Route?Of the Donner Pass but in the 1990s era with the Reno Train Trench?

I'll see how it goes,

I was intending to just improve Reno but as its a clone theres nothing to stop me carrying on.

This is awesome! How is it illegal to release it? It's a simple modification. The advertising of Railworks stipulate that we can create our own content. If RSC denied someone the right to release a modification then regardless of what audacious crap they write in thier terms and condition, they would be depriving a paying customer of the right to utilise their program. They wouldn't have a chance.

It would be a modification to an existing route, only bin files would be included meaning the end user would have to own the original Donner Pass for it to work.
No different than releasing a new engine blueprint or reskin and requiring the end user to have the original loco already.

That's easy. All you're doing is uploading .bin files telling the game where to place everything, not the actual content. In this case it would either have to be a completely seperate route from the default Donner or a mod to the scenery and track .bins with a big fat warning stating that it will modify the original route and use at your risk etc... It's effectively nothing more than in legal terms than a repaint.

If he can find a way to upload the modification without supplying any RSC created content then it's legal. I have never made a route or modified one so I'm not sure if that's possible

it is possible, when you go to package a route by default it will not include protected assets such as the payware files for donner pass, all it will include are the files that tell your computer where to put the stuff only if you have it.
