Canadian National Edson Subdivision

Well heres another route that im starting on while putting the rest on the backburner (not forgotten but just set aside for now)

basicaly this route is all of CN's Edson Sub which extends between Jasper, AB and Edmonton, AB. this is actualy a route that i currently railfan so that should keep me interested on it for quite some time. some stats on the route:

-Roughly 400kms in length (250 miles)
-Mostly single track with passby sidings but closer to edmonton is mostly doubletrack
-Almost every commodity is transported along this line such as coal, intermodal, lumber/paper products, sulphur, grain...etc...
-We have railfanned and seen almost 50 trains within a 12 hour period on this subdivision
-BNSF has trackage rights along about 50% of this route (the western half untill they go off on a different line)
-Tons of induistrys along the line including a large lumber/paper mill, grain elevators and more!

Ive got the dem downloaded and created the tiles through ReDem, but currently I am having a problem of getting myself to the area. my markers are not showing up where they should and im not shure ive put them in the correct folder or anything? every time i try to create a scenario to start off as my buld point which would be 52, -118 it would bring me to something like 38, 103 and will not no matter what i do will let me spawn in thos coordinates! any help from the experienced dem route bulders would be greatly appretiated.

I tried my own marker set when I first started route building which was a challenge to say the least, but I did get them working after several evenings of trying. There are plenty of tutorials on the web for setting up your markers. However midway in my own quest to setup markers, I came across RWDecal http://www.rwdecal.co.uk/and have never used conventional markers again after giving the program a shot. It is pretty accurate, more so than conventional markers as an image can show a lot more than two marker points. Try it, it will make your route building experience a lot easier and save you flipping back and forth between Google Earth and the sim when building a prototype route. One of the best little utilities for the sim as far as I am concerned.

well due to many technical difficulties and the fact that the only dem avalable in the area is averaging around 1 arc/second which makes it impossible to make the route to an accuracy that i would like it to be. therefore i will have to abandon this project untill the day comes when a higher quality of data is avalable.....whenever that is. so if you like papax, hawk, or arti (our 3 admins) you can delete this thread as it will be useles for quite some time.

Well aren't you just special. Isn't this the second or third route that you posted about building, only to bail on all of them. At least I get my sound packs out, even if they aren't a 5\5.

I'll lock it. Maybe one day you can come back to this project.
