Lots of chips

So the Locotrol car is finished with only a little beta testing left before uploading. I've moved on to my next project which would be chip hoppers made by Greenville. The current version is based on the 7526 cu ft version used by Southern, NS, etc.

Anyway I need a little help. I plan on building the 7000 cu ft version as well, mostly used for CSX, etc. My problem is I'm not sure exactly sure what the difference is, in measurements, to allow for the 526 extra cubic feet. From what I understand the 7000 cu ft versions were 70'7" inches, striker to striker, same as the 7526. Both are 16'1" tall. So only thing I can account for the extra size, in load, is in the inside width. Can anyone confirm the differences and measurements for the 7000 cu ft?

These cars will be set up the same as the Locotrol car and will use the default couplers. What I did in turn was replace the default couplers with the Brit kit couplers. I love the Brit Kit couplers due to the fact that they seem to eliminate a lot of 'issues' I've run into. At some point I may do my own couplers but I feel like Brit Kit's look good and work, no sense in messing with a good thing.

Thanks everyone.

Final wip shot of the day. I've managed to finish a large majority of the normal map for the sides. I also removed the geo for the side panels and left the work to the normal map. So now I'm debating on keeping the panel geo and just having it display at 16m or less or getting rid of it completely. The plus side of loosing the side panels is that I gain a little over 700 tris in my budget.

Thanks for sharing all of those. At this point I'm really undecided on how many and which schemes I will do since I'm wanting to get these finished up in reasonable time and move on to other projects I have started. Either way I'll include a template and may revisit other schemes later.

The Meridian and Bigbee and Apalachicola Northern cars are some that I have always been fond of as well.

Well, if anything, you could do one scheme and the repainters could paint it to whatever they want.

Oh yeah, definitely. I'll at least have a car for CSX/Family Lines, maybe Southern. For me, texture painting is always the most time consuming. The initial car is the worst since you're painting and baking AO, diffuse, spec, and normal maps. Subsequent cars aren't too bad since its mostly diffuse and a little variation in spec.

Model for the 7526 cu ft and first scheme almost done. Just a few adjustments left.

7000 cu ft still in the works.
