CSX YN3 C44-9W & ES44

Here are a few pics of the CSX YN3 Dash 9 repaint I've done.

I started with pikehkr's original RS repaint as template, adjusted the colors to better reflect the actual YN3 color, and then adjusted all the detail part colors (so the color matches the YN3 SD40-2 I helped with). It has a weathered version and a clean version. It also has been given RW3 headlight beams / glow and updated the engine.bin and sim files to reflect current improvements, such as dynamic brake effectiveness fixes.

Anyone know if pikehkr is on this forum? Searched the members and didnt see him. I'd like to release this repaint, but want to ask his permission first.

Pikehkr is not around the RW world now a days. He donated all them engines and his version of the Eagle Ridge to me. I will also be hosting his version 3 signals. I started working the D9s myself but yours look very nice. I see no problem with you releasing them. Would you mind if I take your new adjustments and add them to Pike's original paint jobs? I want to use them for the NERW.

Oh, I didnt know he had left the scene. And no problem with you using the modifications - they're all simple fixes that help bring the units up to TS2012 speed. I havent looked into adding wet windows yet though.

I still have to figure out the issue with alpha/reflectivity being too high on the dirty version - so I'm not sure when a release date will be. I also plan on doing a YN3 repaint of the ES44.

Yes, these units are most welcome !!! I really liked the CSX YN3 SD40-2's, and now we're going to have a matching Dash 9.

Would you also like to do a new YN3 ES44 with autonumbering? We could definitely use one, it would look right at home on the COARW, NSAND, PLE and many other Eastern routes.

Thanks!

My computer specs are not really all that great, but they seem to work well with Railworks most of the time. Its starting to show its age even though its not all that old. Here's a link to the computer I have: http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops ... /X505-Q860

It has since been upgraded to 8gb of DDR3 RAM and a second 500gb HDD.

Here are my TS2012 settings:

I also have a command line frame rate limiter set at 30. In those shots of the Dash 9's, it was between 22 and 30 depending on the angle.

Kanawha, The ES44 I'm going to do will absolutely be an autonumber version. Unless its a heritage unit, I cant stand static numbers on locos.

ES44 work in progress. It will represent CSX ES44AC's in the range #700 - #959 (with the high numberboards). Anyone know why after unit #959, all the forward cab doors are on the opposite side?

Before I start adding details or weathering, I have a few pesky issues on the locomotive I cant figure out. Does anyone know what parts of the texture sheets these items can be found at?

Still lots to do...and I'm running out of time today.

The route is the v3 of the NS AND.

I think I'm going to shelve these units for the time being. Just way too many problems trying to figure out whats what on the texture sheets. I might pick them back up again later or if better information comes around.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what the answer is to any of your questions. You might want to ask the author.
