Need a brave soul to do some QA work

MadMike and I have developed a 'super-detailed' GP15-1 based on the real UP Y588. Since our systems have the source and bits and pieces from various revisions we cannot QA the final product. We are looking for one or two people to install the RWP and look for any unneeded files we forgot to cleanup, accuracy of the Readme (yes even the brief legalese), and to make sure we didn't break anything when we modified the engine LUA (ie Run the engine and test the controls).

Give all of these modifications, we would like someone who has done work adding child objects to a model, and has done some (even if minor) repainting.

This is a freeware model based on Mr. Brindley's fine work, so don't worry about your wallet. **!!2cents!!**

If it needs DP items, I can't. Otherwise I'll look it over if you test my GP9 ;)

It's purely based on the freeware GP15-1 plus a ton(ne) of custom scripting and 3D modelling, so after installing the freeware model, and the beta .rwp, it should stand on it's own on any route.

We'd appreciate the help.

Sure thing, drop me a PM with what you want tested exactly. I'll have to go dig the GP15 out of wherever I left the zip...

PM me as well, I'll have a look you if send me the pack to my e-mail! *!!wink!!* And, like Kali said, with the especific points to be tested...

You won't need to dig out the original model. Since the GP15 is a freeware model we are simply cloning/re-bundling it with our mods.

I'll set up a download and PM you guys...

EDIT: @Machinist and Kali - check your PMs...

The ditch lights appear to have some z-fighting going on - I thought they were flashing randomly for a bit but it changes when you move around the model. The script has some errors because it's half one of mine and half the DRB one - if you start logmate it'll complain quite voiciferously until the game grinds to a halt!

The strobes seem to work, along with most of the rest of it and it's driveable. It's probably not Raildriver proof, not sure.

Thats interesting with the ditch lights because we used the script Mr Cowen used for the child headlight for his F series. As you can probable see scripting is one our weaker skills.

I'll look at it today, but do you have any suggestions as to how we can improve the code?

That's one I wrote in May I think :) and Dick adopted; the top half is anyway. The bottom half comes from some other vaguely similar script - possibly DRB's original GP one - but the variables are different names, so logmate gets a bit hissy and the smoke won't be working right. I'll tidy it up as an example sometime later.

The ditch lights though appear to be a model issue, the lit-up bit of the light model is a bit close to the main model of the light so the different parts of the model continually fight to be in front. Just drag the lit-up bit outwards by a couple of cm and it should work fine.

OK, I can do that easy enough.

The lower half is the original Brindley script with the surge smoke, which seems to be working fine. I probably didn't prune your part enough and just keep the variables from your work for the ditch light controls.

OK, please try the attached GEO. I was not able to test it out since my GP15 test-bed took a nose dive and I need to do a lot of cleanup before I can reload it so please backup the original.

Yup. All I did was move the lit element forward about 1/2" (@ 1.25cm).

I was afraid of that. I saw something similar here but I thought it may have been some other child overreacting. I will need to look at this some more.
