GP30 Variants

Unread postby BNSFdude » Tue Nov 29, 2011 4:49 pm

Hey all, Anthony Wood from Midwest Locomotive Works (origionally for MSTS) here to announce and show some renders of a GP30 I've had in the works for some time. Announcements first:
The pack will include full custom cab with almost all switches and controls being interactive (will need help with scripting)
Custom sounds. (with more than one horn), full notching support. 441kHz
Multiple road names with auto number system (again, help with scripts, awesome) (road spec details)
GP30, GP35, GP39 rebuilds (GP39E,V,M), RDMTs.
TSX Effects (need help with that forsure)

Render time: These are a bit old, but these are of the GN version with D/Bs. The mapping is further along than this. I plan on including opening doors on the front and back of the doors. Animation of the lift pins when you go to uncouple it. enough rambling:

Also on the list is to finish a C36-7 project I took on.

Is it possible to allow engine temperature be a variable depending on load? Much like smoke already is dependent on load. I would like it to be possible for certain fans to come on at a certain temperature and the radiator shutters open and close.

I was going to suggest a GP-35 soon as I saw the 30 mesh. I am very happy you are doing this. I would really love to see a 35 without dynamics. (and maybe a nose bell inset Ann Arbor/DT&I -style on the short hood)That would be awesome!

Heh, smoke isn't dependent on load in most of the DLC... there's huge amounts of gadgetry in diesel electrics devoted to keeping the engine load constant for a given throttle position, so really the smoke amount should be almost entirely dependent on the throttle. Most DLC has it dependent on tractive effort which goes down with speed... even someone who knows nothing about mechanics might get the idea that that isn't remotely sensible.

The meshtools 50 - the one on steam - has temperature-dependent shutters ( which got really overcomplicated to script! ) but the temperature wasn't connected to the smoke, which is one thing I'm working on now.

Oh I know about the other GP30. I just like mine better, synnical yes. But beneficial for you guys. *!twisted!*

Amongst other, I'd like to make the SD60 series, Dash 7s, and Maybe an SD50 off the SD60, even though SD50s suck.
To feed the wolves though, I may release an update I did to Aidans 16-645 with a bell I much prefer, and a few more horn options. (I currently run an RS5T *!greengrin!* )

Most likely, my full sets (including GP30) will be freeware?
Why you may ask? Im sick and tired of looking for something I can use and its this "Donation Ware" crap. What about us without money? (not to mention RSCs DLC is 20 bucks for an engine pack) If anything for donation ware, make it usable, but with less features for the free one. I may even do that. But probably not, setting up financial accounts and such costs more than what I'd even get back.

I don't see "Donationware" being any different to freeware; all there is is a button set up somewhere so that someone can click if they liked it and felt like giving a little "thanks for your time" - and isn't in any sense a transaction for goods, most importantly. If it's not voluntary - ie you don't get anything without handing money over - then it's flat out payware no different to any other payware, no matter what you call it. Proceeds may go towards a charity or whatever, but it's still payware and still sale of a product with all that involves too.

RE: vents and so on, build them either ready for animation or with an animation included, and making it work can come after. If it's free stuff I'll be happy to help with scripting/physics etc as much as I have time for.
