Hey guys, so here is Kent Amtrak station in its entirety. It is a replica of the real thing right down to the last beam! the buildign itself is about 55 feet tall and the adjacent old factory is about 49 feet tall. took 3 days to get this far. Just needs a fence door and recessed night lights for under the ped bridge and some street lights for the platforms. Most of my recent works have been blocks of buildings ive continued the trend here as you can see the building adjacent to the southbound platform, thus decreasing the asset count in game tremendously!

I promised that kent station would be operational for the first phase release, although the rest of the town will be under construction(some buildings are present including a rather cool old freight house which you'll have to see for yourself.
That makes 3 stations operational, King St station, Tukwila amtrak Station, Kent Station, for now..

regards,

Ian

That is awsome! Hope to have those skills one day. I noticed your using sketchup pro, can you texture in sketchup pro and export for railworks? Or do you still need to import into 3D Crafter pro, texture it, then finishing the model for railworks?

i export those textures (converting them to aces along the way) with the model to 3dsmax and apply shaders to the textures, and give it night lights and all of the other things need to retain its glory, hit export and its ready!

mdurdan wrote:Great work! Only one question though. How do I put the building textures on it like you did? Also can that be used for measurements as you build? Ok that was two questions sorry *!lol!*

well if you have sketchup click the paint bucket in your toolbar and top right corner click to add image. then yo ucan apply the texture to a face or many by clickign on the paint bucket icon in the palette, and you can adjust image size 2 ways. 1 by tinkering with the height and width measurements once you added the texture to the palette. there are 2 little boxes with measurements in either metric or feet(change here). 2nd way is actually clicking on the texture you applied on the face and right clicking on the face and scroll to texture position, and you can manipulate it there.

I sometimes will add the texture to see if its distorted in any way and adjust my building in proportion to that. most of the time i just figure out the building size first by eyeballing it on google street. god bless google streetview!

the kent station is in the game and looks incredibile i will post it on my blog when I get time!
