All these hours and hours on this thing...................then hours trying to get 4 numbers to work then surrendering and switching over to the Clinchfield one and then ...............wait for it a mapping error on this one. Going to the grocery store with my bride to get away from the frustration.

I am at 40 hours and at least 40 maps into a GP30 repaint. Chasing down things like wiper motor placement, for one. Many times a creator just expects simple paint schemes to be applied. To many times a common component is mapped the same, with no regard that the colors many be different. That is the main reason I have never released a re-paint,as there is always one little thing that keeps it from being accurate. However yours is looking good, hang in there. "New Bride"? Congrats!

I'm glad to realize that I'm not the only one, and even a repainting expert has trouble repainting a locomotive. I've spent many hours (I don't know how many) with the Ontario Northland, even though there's no route in TSC to run with this livery. It's just a great attraction to the design of these railways that encourages us to repaint these locos despite the many pitfalls that await us. !DUH! !**conf**! **!!bang!!** !*hp*!

I think I'm finally going to get this done. Went to work on the RSC bnPack and it looks like it's got everything I need.

I've tried using a color grid on the bicentennial I'm working on to figure out where the various components are mapped to. One thing I realized is that the grid sections are too big with the gradations too course to be of any good on small components. I've got an idea for a more useful color grid with smaller grid sections, but I'll have to see if I can make it work.

I just wish DTG would make repaint kits available with layered and annotated psd files for their locos and rolling stock. It could be another revenue stream for them. Hint hint Gary!
