Yes I know I have a problem, but I happened upon a plan for this engine and I couldn't resist. I only started this two days ago.

With that out of the way, here's the engine. The first render is just to show the Wooten firebox. I also have another reason for starting this, I'm also going to try and get this in Derail Valley with the Custom Car Loader mod. I figured it would be a good first locomotive for trying that.

That would make a good switcher for any "freelance" short line. It might even be possible to do a 3ft gauge variation. Ideal in dock areas.

Yeah, that might be worth experimenting with. It could probably be achieved by making it outside framed. Although it might be a bit tall, it's 14 feet 5 inches tall.

The steam chest is almost fully detailed and I've got about 75% of the valve gear done.

With that level of detail I’m worrying about oiling up in case I miss a part. !*salute*!

Thanks, that's my goal. I strive to get my models as close to the prototype, detail wise, as I can; within reason of course. That's part of the reason why the RS-3's have taken so long.

I think it is amazing what you are doing. All those pieces to make it right. I could never be able to do that.

The valve gear is about 90% done. I still need to work on connecting the expansion links to the lifting arms and valve rocker assemblies. I can't wait to see it all in motion when it's done!

I've finally added the bell and a couple of other things (like the smokebox door hinges). The bell isn't final, because I modeled it off of a generic, front on view drawing. The air pump isn't final, I needed it to get the bend of the grab iron looking realistic (from top-down). I also added some rivets to the water tank as well as the steps that are mounted to them.

The exterior is slowly getting closer to being complete! Still need to do the brake & spring rigging, finish the air pump and piping, and some other smaller details. Then it's onto the cab. Also, The reason the pictures aren't from today is because I forgot to post them here when I rendered/screenshot them.

I haven't added all that much, but progress is progress. Currently rotating working on many of my unfinished projects trying to get one of them finished; while also looking at all of the drawings I have, trying to pick the next thing to work on (I know, I have a problem *!greengrin!* ). I think I'm a compulsive modeler!

I don't how, but I just realized that one of the smokebox rivets disappeared. I must have somehow deleted it.
