Thurmont & Branford revisited

Unread postby mindenjohn » Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:16 am

I have long admired the work of Jack Duffin (Guarddog or goddrauG) and this New Hampshire based shortline has been in the library for a number of years. It is a fine piece of scenic work and the route is interesting for its potential traffic albeit worked by small locos (a GP9 would be big power on this) but it has limitations for scenarios. The main limits have been the track in the runround sidings at the end of each branch being set too close to be used causing runround movements to foul. I relaid these (and lengthened them) for my own use and added more track markers to facilitate scenario writing. I have eased a severe gradient on the approach to Thurmont City which was 6% for a short distance and is now 3.8% max - still challenging. All turnouts are now manual as I didn't think a shortline would have remote dispatching (work orders?). There are a small number of other minor tweaks.
I would like to make the revisited route available in the library but not without Jack Duffin's permission. The original route and assets are required for this amended version.
I have tried to contact Jack Duffin (via a PM) but to no avail, perhaps someone reading this might be able to relay that I would gladly send him a copy of the files for him to check and hopefully approve.

Edit: There are also some scenarios in the package taking advantage of the mods (two of the scenarios are shown in the attached photos). Scenarios already written for the original route should work with little if any change.

I've a good memory for whatever I can remember!
If you wait for perfection you will never do anything but it doesn’t stop you wanting it.
Age doesn’t stop you, it just slows you down.
If you only learn one thing in life - learn to think how your actions and words affect others BEFORE doing or saying.
