The New ES44AC Project

Unread postby TFOLRailfan » Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:57 am

My friend and I have decided to make some new ES44AC locomotives for TS. We are first making UP versions from locomotives #8052-8267. We are going to make these community-built meaning: We can all contribute on this project. You can contribute by sending High resolution images of UP locos, focusing on a specific part or that show detail, or sending images of shared parts on all ES44AC locos, like doors, radiator parts, Hi-ad trucks, etc. Another way is by sharing advanced LUA scripts. Currently, my knowledge on LUA isn't that much, so we'd love samples, or instructions on advanced features, like advanced smoke (this is something I have no idea how to do). The third way you can contribute, is by sharing features in this locomotive. You can send links to sites that have them or a manual.
If you want to help on this project, send an email to contact.clearsignalmods@gmail.com. We want your name in the credits when we are complete, so have your name, last name is optional. You can use any appropriate social media name if you desire to. If you don't want you name in the credits, tell us in the email. If you are sending images, attach them to the email. Do not send them in a .zip file or in any archive. If you are sending samples or features, type them in the email or paste them in there. If we all contribute as a community, we WILL release this as freeware and have a chance to do it again. We are aware of the long journey we have to complete this, so there will be no ETA. Attached are some images of what we have at the moment. If you are curious on what resources we used, they are trainiax.com drawings and guess work.

I think that a community collaboration would be awesome. I know that between TruRail and Searchlight that we have some talented people in this community. I myself am trying to carve out some time to learn some skills. I am going to take a C++ game programming class this spring and next fall a Unity engine class. I also want to go through the Blender tutorials and learn some 3D modelling. I can certainly help with repaints, and would love to see this is a variety of liveries, both real and fictional once this is done. The DTG ES44AC is showing its age as it has only had minor upgrades since it original release in 2011 from the Kuju days. I would love to see this in 4k detail and hope that it can be as good as the AC440CW, only much more repaint friendly.

That'd be great although someone else asked to be a repainter. I could have you work on some fictional repaints. I'd be cool to have a UP 19962 (yes 2) in the original SP paint. Just saying lol. If you have Instagram you can PM it to me then we can talk more.

Sorry, I don't have an Instagram account, but I am on Facebook. Are you planning on making this strictly for UP or other railroads as well.

Wish that someone could also make this for the Unreal engine in TSW.

Oh ok. I don't have Facebook, but I guess we can just PM. I do want to make them for all railroads that own them.
