PRR/PC reapints of the RS1 and U30C

Unread postby pkz19 » Wed Aug 26, 2020 8:21 pm

So my 2012 laptop finally hit its wall a few months ago and could no longer handle running TS. I had to move everything to an external drive and start from the ground up with a fresh install. Two things I had wanted to upload we PRR & PC repaints of the RS-1 and U30C that I had done for me by a friend. He does contract work but I wanted to share these for the RWA community to enjoy. As I prepare to upload them, I need clarification on two things: first, the only things that get packaged into the .rwp file are the file extensions for the locos, not the pictures or installation descriptions, yes? I did read back through the manuals but I didn't catch the answer to this.

Second, as far as I can tell, all .geo files need to be removed, but the U30C has 6 .geo files, so do all of them need to be removed and then replaced, meaning I need to be sure to include all 6 in the installation instructions?

Yes to both questions.

You could/should include screenshots and clear instructions in the .rar, .zip or .7z file that the .rwp file is included in.

And, since the U30C is payware, you can not include the .geo files unless you get permission from the author to do so first.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong about any of that.

Correct.
Also, please help us by following these guidelines:
1- Package your files in a single zip or 7z, including game files, pictures, thumbnails and a text file for instructions.

Example Filename: my_upload.zip
Screenshots: my_upload.jpg, my_upload2.jpg, my_upload3.jpg, etc. Depending on how many you have and limit that to no more than 5.
Thumbnail: my_upload_tn.jpg

Replace my_upload with the name of your file.

All screenshots should be jpgs. BMPs and PNGs do not work. Plus they are usually quite large.

Screenshot files are required to be 830 pixels wide. This size keeps the web site in correct proportions.

Thumbnails are required to be 150 pixels wide.

Heights do not really matter.

There can be no &, ", (), {}, [] or other non alphabetic/numeral characters except for the underscore _.

Upload your zip file to a public cloud service and PM the link to Chacal or artimrj.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I just sent Bob a DropBox link with the package for the RS1. I think I did everything right...

I'll start working on the package for the U30C but I'm a bit distracted by my Brownies getting their behinds handed to them by the Ravens...2020 may be unpredictable but some things never change...

Ok, sorry for the delay on getting the U30C uploaded but that is available now too; big thanks to Chacal for his patience with me figuring out how to deal with geo files!
