Amtrak Corrridor Heritage Locomotives

A few years back, when the Cities Sprinters were being delivewred and I didn't know what I was doing with reskins for this platform, I started on a set of two heritage paint jobs, based on Pennsy and New Haven practice. I'd chosen the last two, 668 and 669, because we lost the Pennsy in '68 and the New Haven in '69. One of the assumptions I'd made, which proved not to be the case, was that Amtrak would retain the company branding on any such project, assuming they even entertained the idea. The project got as far as a McGinnis-themed paint job whe I discovered I'd messed up the file structure, and an old railroad buddy of mine suggested I don one of the green schemes instead, the McGinnis Erat not being the New Haven's finest hour.

Matt's set of Amtrak Heritage reskins has convinced me to take another look at it. Given that most of the actual and imitation McGinnis locomotives have been scrapped or repainted, apart from a few preserved examples, I'm not going to dump this one out the ground wire; but I will be doing a green scheme, probably from Young Dumaine's era, as well. The Pennsy version will be Brunswick with five stripes, as a tribute to the GG-1s' best days.

That's really nice, the only thing I would suggest is maybe using the New Haven logo instead of the modern Amtrak one on the side and front.

That's actually the way I originally did it, basedon a retouched photo that was making the rounds atthe time. I still have those skins backed up - I found them, much to my surprise, this afternoon - and I s'pose I could release them as an EP-6. :D

I applied the New Haven skins I dug up from the archives, and the result would indeed make for a nice-looking locomotive ...

... except that there's the other side of the story.

Well ... that was disappointing. It was probably the reason I reverted to the original branding. I had some notes, but they got lost in the intervening few years.

Still,it should be possible with a decal, but that's a bit beyond my current talent stack.

The Amtrak decal I believe can be remapped to a new bin file that references the NewHaven bin file. No expert on that but someone who's good on child objects may know
