Faded UP SD40-2

Unread postby wlenz781 » Tue Jan 14, 2020 4:50 pm

I feel that the SD40-2 Union Pacific Early (80s), is too bright and clean. These might be fine for those that want to run scenarios for the 80's when these engines were new. I am working on making faded and weathered versions of this engine. Do you guys want the faded textures as replacements for the current model, or as a separate engine? I will be creating the weathered version as a separate engine so that faded and weathered engines can be paired on a train. Here is a screenshot of the 80's snoot with weathering.

After years and years of watching UP west of Chicago I can testify that you can see just about every shade and age of paint on any given train any day. I definitely would like to see the weathered ones as separate items. I could tell a lot more if I like this if I could see the sunny side but there's no reason why you should care what I think. !*roll-laugh*!

I am going to do the weathered ones as a separate engine in game. My question was if you guys want a faded UP texture for those engines that is a drop-in replacement texture. I think that the clean and bright paintjobs are to intense. I am only reducing the colors by 30% on that one, no rust or dirt added.

I'd still suggest doing the faded unit as a separate engine still. That would allow users to portray a wide range of era's of UP power easily without having to 'reinstall' a different version.

I like the idea of a clean faded version of this, as it would fit in well for early 80's consists where both schemes coexisted.
