Penn Central Repaints

Unread postby TheR62Fan » Mon Aug 19, 2019 8:31 pm

I'm going to be releasing some Penn Central repaints to the library, mostly from engines and rolling stock that haven't been released.

I am currently working on a Penn Central Alco S2.

Friendly suggestion. Try to make the black a little less black like 30-30-30 or even 40-40-40.

...and do your test-shots after you exit the world-editor so you get full benefit of the route's lighting; taking screens in the world-editor lighting can also contribute the black appearing overly dark *!!wink!!*

Edit; just thought of another tip: whenever you start a repaint, decide on which route it will most likely be used on and create a free-roam scenario, setting the time of day for either 0900 or 1500 hours, so the sun casts light from a more lateral direction than the noon default. Then place your subject on a section of track that aligns north-south. Then place another instance of the subject and flip it around so both subjects are end-to-end, with enough room to squeeze the camera between the two so you can get end-shots. This will allow the sun to shine on either side of the subject from east-west and you can take screenshots of both the left and right sides of the subject, which are now both illuminated from the same camera angle. I suppose if you really want to get fancy, you could place the subject on a turntable and have at it, but I've never gone that far; I guess because not every route has a turntable. !*don-know!*

Thanks for the advice.

I wonder though, would the fact that the screenshots were taken without the dynamic lighting do anything? *!!thnx!!*

Sorry I made it seem like this was dead, but I'm still working on it (around 97% completion, just got to test everything)! !!**sorry**!! !*lho*!
I got the repaint to look better via dynamic lighting, and I've also changed the number fonts to make it more prototypical. *!!wink!!*

Alright I have tested everything and it is ready for release, the only thing is that the file library software has to be updated in order to upload.

No it doesn't. There are instructions about the workaround while the guys work on the fix.

I had finished the S2, and now working on an SD7 using GreatNortherner's engine.
