ATSF Redlands Loop (c. 1956)

Unread postby Fireexplorer249 » Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:19 pm

I've been working on this project for a while, but now I feel like it is at a good point to share the progress with the good people of this forum. In the late 1800s, the ATSF built the Redlands Loop to tap into the Southern California citrus industry. The route starts in the San Bernardino yard, moves into Redlands, then Mentone, then Highland, and finally back onto the Cajon Subdivision at Highland Junction. The route covers a total of around 30 miles. My rendition of this local route takes place in 1956 when the route was still complete and the citrus industry was winding down. The route will include the ATSF Redlands Loop, the Southern Pacific Branch stretching from Bryn Mawr to Redlands, the ATSF San Bernardino yard with mainline stretching to Devore, and finally a few miles of the Southern Pacific Sunset route. Here are some shots of the current progress of this route. Any feedback and critiques are welcome!

Outstanding work! Is there a list of required assets for the route?

I have some early 50's vehicles available on the RWA library, the 52 Ford truck and a couple others.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! Either tonight or tomorrow night I will have an asset list and some additional progress shots. In the mean time, here is a shot of the famed Redlands Depot on Orange St. in downtown Redlands.

Looks good... and I'm glad to see this is being done. I grew up in the SoCal area back in the 70's, and remember seeing the remnants of their once famed citrus industry.

Thanks Howard! Unfortunately, the citrus industry here is pretty much a distant memory. Riverside and small bits of Redlands still have groves though. In other news, here are the tentative requirements for this route. By the end of the project, I will try my best to reduce the amount of requirements.

RWA:
Lakeside Route
RCAP

3D Trains:
Scale Rail
SceneryPacks
World Landscapes

RSC:
Horseshoe Curve
Donner Pass

G-Trax:
Bessemer & Lake Erie
Sacramento Northern
Stevens Pass

DTG:
Feather River
Soldier Summit
Clear Creek
Cal Train San Francisco to San Jose

Here are some fresh screenshots for y'all! Work this past week has been focused on the area north of the tracks between Church St. and 9th St. This included redoing an old orange orchard ( The very first thing I made on this route when I started almost a year and a half ago ) and a small subdivision of homes on Stuart St.
Enjoy!

Thanks guys! Here is an update for the weekend. I have begun work toward 7th Street. This first shot is at ground level looking east from the 7th Street crossing. The next two shots show an overview of all of the work from the past couple of weeks. I am slowly working my way back toward downtown as I continue to refresh the outdated scenery while filling in the gaps I had left a while ago, which are quite plentiful...
