Chicago Commuter Cab Car Repaint(s)

Unread postby GERUNIMO625 » Wed Feb 28, 2018 9:41 pm

Howdy Folks,

These have been a pipe dream of mine since Barnez's Race Track was released, and I finally got around to them. *!embar*!
Since the Gilroy expansion was released we now have a cab car cabview that is atleast similar to what would have been in these cars. After a lot of messing around I managed to work it into the model.
Down side, I had to create/copy several .geopcdx files and then edit them to allow the cabview and car to work together, so I'm not entirely sure I can release them, and if I can how. Any advice/information on a proper way to do that would be greatly welcomed.
They are not great quality as the texture files are DXT1 and I haven't a clue how to make the quality better beyond that, if at all. Also managed to get the headlights to work! The marker laterns that would have been on the car under the cab are also missing as they looked silly in 2D.

Anyway, enjoy these preview shots of my Milwaukee Road Commuter car and cabcar:

True, but what we really need are some E8's and E9's; No idea how these STILL have never been made for Railworks. !*don-know!*

Changed the .fx files, they look alittle better now, or atleast I think so.

I would like to at some point do BN, CNW, and Rock Island cars when time permits.
Only thing is, some of those cars have fiddly bits, while they can certainly be painted on I think they would look better 3D.

I've known about the britkit/dickyjim downloads, and there was the one included with the Portland Teminal, but I think what he's getting at, and I would love to see as well, is a high quality remake / model of an E series loco. Seems we have a mirad of GP40's, SD40's, ES44's, etc. that have been done with HQ models and sounds, in some cases you have multiple options for high quality models and sounds, but not much for the E and F series loco's. I'd love to See a developer like Reppo or what was formerly VRC, DTM or Seachlight Sim's or hell, even DTG do a quality take on an E or F unit. It's something that I think is LONG overdue for railworks.

I suppose you have to make what sells for DLC however, and I can't speak to that as I'm not a developer.

But bit of good news, Searchlight Sim's has stated that they do have a 567 soundpack in the pipeline. Which makes me much excite. Like SUPER excite. BTW, the latest soundpack for the 645e roots blown is AMAZING!! Go buy it now!

The models that are included with the Feather River Route as well as the EMDFP7Pack01 and the F7Pack02 are quite well done. These are all for the F-units. The E's are the ones we are really lacking. BNSFDude tantalized us with a comment last week however I have no knowledge of what Searchlight might be working on.

I suppose you're right, I forgot about those. And as far as a model goes, DTG/Kuju's F7 isnt that terrible. But they are missing an E unit. Would be nice to have a simple reskin of the default f7 that makes it into an FT or F3 as well, again, just me dreaming out loud, I realize I don't have the skills to make one, and I'm not criticizing anyone who has/does. Just an observation about rolling stock the community is lacking.

Yeah we have both two headlight and one headlight F7, the FP7, and a F9 but I don't think there are any FT or F3 out there except for Brikits ans no E's.
