New York Division-Main Line (Help Wanted)

So, I am asking. I am at the end of this here 4 year project. The one thing, the critical thing, that is missing; is the Main Line to Patterson.

It looks like about 5 – 6 months of work. Its dense, its industrial and its amazing! I don’t know if I am up to going past 4 years. I would like to extend to you the opportunity to build something that hasn’t been fully executed yet in TS. I have tried two other guys out … they bailed. Basically, they cant do the scenery. They rush and don’t have the staying power. Perhaps you do.

STRM is set. I would lay the track to lock in the grades, elevations and prevent a mishap with track.bin. If I lay the track out, would you be IN until June to blow this out? I will be completely out of the way in Orange County. You can export just the Tile data in a work area for me to import. ( I would like to test that first of course). During the time of the Main Line work – I would be finishing Maybrook, Working to Montgomery and Walden. Then, I go back down to Carlton Hill to finish that. After that, I enhance the scenery from Mahwah to Ridgewood. If there is time, I will extend the route to the Middletown Station and go no further than Otisville. Last would be to circle back and finish or assist with the Main Line.

I am asking for 1250 feet on each side of the track and detail to 2 blocks away. There are some great urban scenery opportunities here and quite a few sidings and a yard in Patterson AND another draw.

This has been one awesome ** experience. The Main Line effectively finishes the key parts of the New York Division. I invite you to join in and put the capstone on this puppy!

(This is excerpted from an email I sent to SQK4477, the builder of the Branford Steam Railroad and contributor of the Bergen Line) He, regrettably declined due to commitments to his own route.

Here is the deal: You get to own this 13 mile section of the Bergen Line. You get credit on the Steam Workshop Page, in the Bergen Line Operating Manual and the #2 Spot in Billing on the Route's Marquee. The opportunity to showcase your work to 2850 players of Train Simulator from around the world is yours. The chance to take the Bergen from Stunning to Epic would be in your hands.

I ask: That you dedicate 10-15 hours a week (on average) for the next 18 Weeks and attempt to complete this section. You will also unsubscribe from the Bergen Line and receive and present updates from/to me on a weekly basis (Via Google Drive), no later than 9pm Eastern each Thursday. These updates will be reviewed, added to the route and presented to the pubic on Fridays at intervals were sufficient progress has been made to present an area. You will discard any expanded folders of the DLC used on the route and work only with the compressed .AP file. (this will prevent issues with assets being presented to the users). You will use only the 3 DLC and 2 Scenery Packs that are currently used on the route. You will endeavor to reproduce what you see on the ground and convey that with your amazing creativity and determination in your work. You will have a second monitor and have access to Google Earth, Google and Bing Maps and locate any necessary Topo Maps, videos or photographs to aid in your work.

You will submit samples of your work: either screen capture or a copy of your existing route work for review. You will not be a full-time student (this will hurt your grades). You will have previous route building experience.

You may submit your interest here or by PM.

IF I get a serious application - I WILL lay the track from Lyndhurst to Patterson and submit that on the next update. At that point we will commit to working on this new section. After that point, and if we have no taker or the line is barely complete, I reserve the right to delete that section of track on or about June 1, 2018, when I would like to finalize the route.

Its a big commitment and its a big deal (a least to me). I appreciate your consideration.

Please post here if your interested in joining the project - otherwise please let this thread die a quiet death and not make unnecessary posts.

Thank you.
MM

*Note* In the case of 2 or more candidates: 1 would work on the Main Line and the 2nd would work on the NJ&NY Branch (19 Miles).

I've been wanting to have the Main Line for quite a while and of course, as a person who is willing to help any friends in need, I would like to step in and help work on the Main Line as I'm currently in the process of helping a friend with scenery on his RF&P route.

Response Sent to Penn via PM.
(Thank you Sir)

I would like to remind applicants, as I neglected to mention another requirement. For purposes of consistency, I wish to retain some of the 'flavor' of the rest of the route in this work. The most noticeable characteristic would be streets, roads and Highways for example.

Thanks for all the page views guys.

Awesome to see that the Main Line will become part of the great New York Division: Bergen Line that you have almost finished!!!

However, I am not familiar with the NY&NJ branch. Is that the line that turns N-NE at Rutherford and goes to Wood-Ridge?

Correct, NS. I call it the NJ&NY branch. The main line is only official when all the track is laid.

That NJ&NY branch is known today as the Pascack Valley Line that goes to Spring Valley, NY. *!greengrin!*

I would love to get in on this and help.

I know I have the attention to detail you are looking for. How ever between my full time (real life) work and my own route, plus I have people helping me now. I do not think I could promise to complete your route in the time frame that you need.

The collaboration and communication needed to make sure its being done the way you want it done will require someone who has more free time.

I wish you all the best. I love the attention to detail your route has. I cant wait to see its completion.

Too many route builders take so many short cuts in order to get the route out. Its refreshing to see someone else put in the effort to address all the small things that are often lost when I see a new route released.

Hurst, i agree with your assement. We are also of like mind in our approach. Its 15 hours per week to do 13 miles in 18 weeks. Its a fact. It takes a special commitment to work on a project that's not your own, let alone, the donated time. I thank you for stepping up and letting me know where you stand.

Potential applicants dont hesitate to pm me or post here.
The more quickly I can firm up who is with this project, the more quockly i can lay track. Today would be perfect!
