Fort Worth 1925 North Phase release

I've changed this thread from WIP to release. the first post has links for the route and assets, but the rest of the formerly wip thread contains a lot of info.

I doubt it can be run in 32-bit, ie not in a scenario. I use 64-bit and have 16 gig memory, with a draw distance slider all the way to the left. Please report any problems. If I've included assets that I shouldn't have, I'll fix that immediately.

I'm calling this the North Phase of the route, as all trackwork is completed, but scenicking is "done" on the northern 2/3 of the route, ie everything from the Texas & Pacific tracks north. That includes the greatest part of the operational features of the entire route. The thee yards to the south have enough scenery to make them usable, to support operations in the north. It will be a long time before I complete the southern 1/3, as I'm ready to start enjoying the route instead of building it.

I forgot to delete my test scenarios, so ignore those or delete them.

I want to thank all the asset creators. Get the complete list in the asset files. The route would be barebones without assets from GreatNortherner, jpetersjr, RWA, GTrax, 3DTrains, UKTrainsim Freeware Pack Terrain Textures, WACampbell, rail-sim.de and many many more.

Payware needed:

Bessemer & Lake Erie route
RWA Lakeside route

Freeware:

3dTrains ScaleRail, ScaleRoad, Rural Landscapes

[below is the original first post]

I'm currently working on a route that will depict Fort Worth railroading circa 1925. It will include a portion of the interurban/streetcar lines, and the various yards, stations, and industries. My intent is to have only freeware dependencies, with the exception of the RWA Lakeside Route.

My reasons for the route are that I really like running steam locomotives, and my family has roots in Fort Worth. One of my great-grandfathers worked for the Texas and Pacific for 35 years. When he died in 1926 he was an engineer on the T&P's Cannon Ball Express, driving it from Fort Worth to points west and back. Another great-grandfather was a car washer at one of the Fort Worth yards. I have a letter written by my great-uncle to my grandfather, recounting those days around the turn of the century when they both were young men 'firing on the Denver (Fort Worth and Denver).' Later on my granfather got an engineering degree and managed an ice plant for one of the railroads, and later still he was Yard Master for inbound trains to Fort Worth's Union Station.

After I started working on the route I came across the following map [see Fort Worth 1925.jpg in the documents], which would become my main guide. I've tried to follow it as close as I can for the railroads, and have sought other sources for more detail on yards. I've modeled only perhaps 5% of the interurban and streetcar lines, however.

Downtown Fort Worth is at the center of the route, of course, so here is a real-world and a route pic.

Close to the southern limit of downtown was the Interurban terminal in Fort Worth.

You can see my style - yes I wanted to make the route 'accurate' in general, but I'm certainly not religious about it.

A typical downtown streetcar run.

I'm indebted to many of you out there for the freeware scenery, and I will list them upon release. About half of the downtown scenery is from Jpetersjr, including many of the vintage cars. Great work. GreatNortherners structures, track, scenery are a big part of the route. And Gtrax items via the RWA Lakeside Route. Thanks to them and all.

This has the makings of a route of epic proportion! Your urban work is fantastic!

When I get some time I'll definitely do some new cars and such, things have been busy at work lately unfortually.

I'll definitely do some early 1920's cars and trucks.

...Cheers...

Thanks for the kind comments.

Here's the monument 'square' in front of the Texas & Pacific Station.

The station was replaced in 1933 or so, and had a history of burning down.

T&P Engine Service and RIP. I didn't make the roundhouse a full circle like in real life because I thought it would look better open.

Figured I'd have to have a car wash facility although I don't see one in any pics I've found.
