(WIP) RoadRailer Simulations' GTW GP38-2 and SD40-2 (CANCELLED)

Finally back after almost 9 months of absence from making freeware content, and I'm now working on something that probably no one has ever done before (at least with proper autonumbering), the GTW GP38-2 (using the Chicago Racetrack GP38 model) and the GTW SD40-2 (using the default Kuju SD40 model)! Right now, it's NOWHERE near complete, but hopefully by the end of April, it should be done in time for beta testing!

So yeah, that's the official announcement right there. I will post more screenshots as time flies by. For now, enjoy!

For reference, here's what the real thing looks like:

Looks like progress on this is going well as I hoped!

Looking more like a Grand Trunk Western GP38-2 now! (Of course I do need to do some color corrections, remove the AC units from the top [which I was unable to do for now], mess around with the GP38 Cab geo file to remove the BNSF logos from the cab view, try to remove the Dynamic Braking from the unit, improve stuff, and it should be ready for beta testing!)

Remove the AC and dynos? aren't those apart of the actual engine itself and not a child?

Yeah, but I'm attempting to remove their textures and make them transparent. Tried it with the AC units, but with no luck. If I can't get the dyno textures off, I'll have to keep them on, but as a decoration, and I may just disable dyno in the .bin files.

OK, so I finally finished a pre-alpha version of the GTW GP38-2, using the Chicago Racetrack GP38 model. Work still needs to be done, but in the meantime, you can leave me feedback, suggestions, and/or advice on any issues and what I should do next for this project.

I think you should make the blue like a 'sky blue'. !!*ok*!!

Agreed. The colors on this seem way too bright.

They look to dark to me. *!rolleyes!*

I meant the brightness of the colors, not necessarily the shade of blue that is used. On that note, I agree with you that a lighter "sky blue" would look much better.

It is not brightness but saturation.

Yes nice repaint but maybe less intense more washed out blue would suit

Here's a pretty good match of the right blue.
Looking forward to your engine. !!*ok*!!

GT Blue is looking pretty good to me,even though The Grand Trunk was the death of my favorite road,The Detroit,Toledo and Ironton. I have posted this many times before, but THE thing I need the most in this Sim is a GP 38/38-2 Non Dynamic unit.I have repainted a handful of VRC GP-40-2's into DT&I colors. I may do a GT scheme, but not soon. DTG would have to release a route that has a non dynmaic 38 for them to rework the mesh, and I don't know if they could be nudged.

Alright, so work on the GTW GP38-2 project is back up and running. I'd like to thank you guys for sending out some feedback to make this project better.

So I've decided to start fresh again with this repaint using the built-in Alpha 1 textures that came with the Racetrack GP38. And I didn't even bother to give up modifying the GP38 Geo file either; I managed to remove the BNSF logo from the exterior in cab view, and I even managed to remove the AC units by modifying a single line of code!
