Wagon Wheel Gap

Hello everyone. Long time MSTS/OR holdout here. I have owned Railworks since it first came out, but have really not touched until just these last few months. What brought me here was working on the same route with the three different route editors. MSTS, GOKU OR Editor, and wanting to give this one a try once again.

The route I am constructing with all three editors, is the Wagon Wheel Gap in Colorado. No frills, some creative freedom thrown in. For those that do not know, the Wagon Wheel Gap, the route was sold by the UP, to a private group, who intended to run excursion trains from Southfork, CO, to Creede, CO. But thanks to a rather crappy city council in Creede, this plan was blocked, and hence, no excursions have ever happened on this route.

I started in Creede, and have worked my way south to Southfork. And I can announce that I probably am about 90 percent finished with this portion. Being new to this editor, it started off a little rough in Creede, but as I have gotton closer to Southfork, the route's looks improve a great deal. It is mostly single line, with the why outside of Creede, and Southfork, as well as a few very small sidings where they actually are. I have actually put signals in, although none exist now. I am not sure about releasing it as it stands, because it really will only accommodate a modern day excursion service of only a few cars. You can see pictures of this route, in the photo section of the forum here. I have used a hodge podge of assets, some payware as well as freeware. Most payware assets come from the Clear Creek, Feather River, Soldier Summit, Sherman Hill, and Donner Pass. Those big sales come in handy!

I do plan on extending the route, and am currently building towards Del Norte, CO, and plan to end up all the way out at the main line in Walsenburg, CO. The San Luis Valley portion of the route, will be a more feasible release, as this is Colorado potato country. They grow a variety of potato here that cannot even be grown anywhere else in the USA. This portion will have numerous business served by rail, and will include the La Veta Pass. Again, some creative freedom is taken, but I do think the area is being captured nicely. For a newbie. Compared to some of the other WIP I have downloaded, that seem abandoned, I do say mine is a bit more rewarding even with the little bit I do have finished.

I am currently on the road OTR, trying to finish getting my downpayment on my new rig finished, but if there is enough interest, I could package this up and send it to Bob for upload here once I get home in a month. It's all up to you, the members here.

Creede Huh? I was out that way almost 10 years ago. AFAIK doesn't this line get used to store cars now?

There are currently unused coal hoppers stored between Del Norte, CO and Southfork, CO. Since the trackage from Southfork to Creede was sold to a private entity, UP won't store any railcars beyond Southfork. The owners of the line still have their equipment sitting in Southfork, such as an old dash7 and various other rail items at the old station there.

There isn't much there in real life to keep people away. Now it's a great fishing spot since you don't have to worry about anything coming over that bridge. But these kids, were placing coins on the track.
