KCS ES44AC

Unread postby wlenz781 » Mon Jan 30, 2017 5:55 pm

I am working on creating an updated ES44AC for KCS. This will be based on one of the newer ES44 series from RSC. I would love to find one that has the numbers in the right location and also has a functional cab. Canadian Passes may offer the best numbering location, but the CSX ES44AC has functional switches for cab, flashing ditch, and step lights. Any suggestions on the final model would be appreciated. Now a screenshot of my progress.

I am aware of that, and the ditch lights will be solid and only flash when the horn is sounded. I just wanted the best ES44AC model that exists. The Kuju model is so outdated, and the cab has zero functionality other than power and brake levers. I really hope that DTG gives a fully functional ES44AC in TSW that can be repainted into other liveries.

If you have the Searchlight Simulations pack, I could alter the script to disable the flashing ditchlights for you.

You could use the BNSF ES44DC (H2). It doesn't have flashing ditch lights, and it has proper trucks.

Some KCS ES44ACs have STEER-II trucks though.

Huh. I never knew that. I only thought it was CSX and CP. Well, KCS always has some surprises from time to time.
I look forward to this repaint! !*salute*!

Still working out some bugs, mostly with details around the cab. Also have to create a copy of the RMills decal to get the KANSAS CITY SOUTHERN down the sides. Once I find the fins of the vents below the cab, and adjust the numbers, I should be getting close. Decided to go with the CP model.

This is definitely a case of the devil is in the detail. I am working hard with the details and clusters files trying to find all the little bitty lines that need to be painted the right colors and getting it all lines evenly.

Making some progress, but it seems like every time you fix one thing you break another. Got the numbers fixed and a few other details and now my rear vents are red. Still have to get the logo child added and mapped.

Having an issue with the RMills child object that was used for the Coaster repaint in the Metro Pack and the Genset repaints. When you look at the decal at a sharp angle, it disappears. Anyone have any ideas of how to fix this? Also, if anyone knows how to do a great job of painting the handrails yellow with black stripes, I would appreciate the assist.
