(WIP) GP38-2 Reskins

Unread postby JM1261 » Sun Oct 02, 2016 2:55 pm

Last week, I had an itch to do a bunch of GP38-2s... so that's what I am doing. *!greengrin!*

I'll be working on these liveries at my own pace, so do not expect them immediately. If you have any other livery suggestions, either send me a PM or drop them below. If one grabs my attention, then I'll either consider it and/or give it a shot!

All engines (other than the CSX YN3B units) use the BNSF GP38-2 Loco Add-On.

Those are some nice ones Overshoe. :D

Here is the St. Lawrence & Hudson GP38-2. The StL&H was a CP subsidiary (hence the CP-esque livery) created in 1995 to control the latter's eastern assets. CP gobbled the company back up in 2001.

Dang! That CP paint job looks exactly like the CP paint on the GMD SD40-2! Spot on! !!*ok*!!

Errm, when do you plan on getting the CSX GP38's done? I'm trying to grab the Racetrack route in the Halloween sale along with some other DLC.

Thanks! I wouldn't go as far as saying the paint is exactly like Searchlight's GMD unit though, just the color. I could never do a skin to the level of their CP SD40-2!

I really don't know when I'll get to the CSX units, so you're fine right now.

Just something that I've been messing with and will never complete *!lol!*.

Which GP38-2 do you use? Very nice project!

Thank you, I appreciate it! :D I am using the BNSF GP38-2 Loco Add-on for all of the engines except for the CSX YN3B version, which will use the GP38-2 from the Chicago Racetrack route.

Here is another *!greengrin!*...

And the CP family trio as of now...

Still some minor work to be done on the trio, but after that? Probably EJ&E... or maybe RJ Corman...

Wish you would share your layered texture files. I would love to see how you defeated the separate hood doors issue.

Agreed, RSC made the hood nearly impossible to repaint.

I am not good at explaining things, so here are a few pictures to show what I do in cases like the GP38-2:

A.) I select the area I want to copy in the cabinets texture..

Image3.jpg

B.) Then I paste the selected area into the main body texture..

Image5.jpg

C.) After that, I move the copied cabinets texture to where the cabinets would be located in-game, resize it until I get a good fit, then I save everything and check it out in TS. After that, I go back and make adjustments if needed.

Hope this helps!

That's quite different to the technique I use, and the accuracy is amazing!

Here is a very early WIP shot of the CSX YN3B GP38-2. This unit is based off the GP38-2 in the Racetrack route.
