Bangor & Aroostook Allagash Line

It's taken me a while to get back into the swing of route building. I started a few prototypical routes, but just couldn't get back into the rhythm of it. Finally, over a year after the release of the Champlain Division (of which I am eternally grateful for its success) I have begun a new fictional route in the same spirit, the Bangor & Aroostook's Allagash Line.

The Allagash Region of Maine is a large wilderness area in the extreme northern part of Maine, extending up to the Canadian border. In the route's history, part of this region (which in reality is undeveloped and gorgeously isolated) was developed in the 1890s for logging and paper manufacturing. The Bangor & Aroostook Railroad built the Allagash Line, a branch extending from a mainline connection to the town of Wilson, Maine which is the location of a large paper mill. In the 1970s and 1980s, when the route takes place, the BAR still serves the branch with pulpwood trains, a through freight to Wilson and various locals. Along the line are various towns of differing population, but due to the remote nature of the region few are large. The region is rural and wooded, with a few impressive bridges and rivers as well as a large lake. Industries include the paper mill in Wilson, lumber companies, potato growers associations, and other small industries. Passenger service to the area is dead but could be revised if the user wishes.

Here are some shots of the paper mill at Wilson, ME.

That looks awesome! !*drool*!
I've noticed that fictional routes to me seem to be easier and more fun to make. You don't have a linear path you have to follow, you can just run wild.
Will this route use the "Big four" for DLC again?

Awesome idea.
Right now the Allagash region is composed of equal weights of moose and black flies.
Now you're introducing new ingredients.

You got that right, I like to dabble in writing from time to time and I find the creative freedom very similar. I love a good prototypical route but there's nothing like letting the mind roam every once in a while!

Yes the "Big Four" as well as the Fort Kent route for its area specific assets

Indeed, a pinch of B&A should add a little flavor !*salute*!

By the way, this is not far away from Fort Kent. That's a nice little route you might find inspiring.

Rick has said that he is using the Fort Kent assets, so it's also a necessity.

It's from Dick Cowen's BAR pack, found here http://dickyjim.com/special_packs.html. I did a repaint that updated the textures a bit, so I'll be uploading that to the file library

Thanks for the link. Your mill definitely reminds me of East Millinocket.
