O'dell County Traction Co.

Unread postby nsl714 » Sun Jan 10, 2016 6:16 pm

If you look at my install of Train Simulator, there are no less than 4 projects which reside there. There's the CNS&MRy., which I continue to poke at in a never ending onslaught of scenery. There's the Electrified RW&A, which somewhat stagnet at the moment awaiting trolley pole models, There's the Railgear, mentioned a short while ago, which is complete and just needs to be uploaded, and then there's this.

The O'dell County Traction Company was a Model Railroader project railroad from the winter of 1988-1989. It was a simple little folded dogbone in HO, squeezed onto a 3x6 table as only traction could be. I started this a few years ago, and I never did too much with it. Now a few years later, the editor's (and indeed my own) capabilities have improved, and what follows is what I have done the past few days. I have tried to stay true to the original track plan, and as such there are a number of industrial spurs, 2 reverse loops, and a carbarn.

That's awesome! the S2 looks right at home there, perfect for some great 50's and 60's era modeling! Great Job!

Bet the 44tonner would work well there too.

Thanks guys. The S2 is the smallest thing I have to run round in these areas. 44 Tonner likely would work. Needless to say it's only 6 tons short of one of these:

Did you see http://forum.treinpunt.nl/index.php?act ... ;down=6510? Is there anything useful in this collection?

Kind regards,

Laid out the "Rural" half tonight. The other end of the dogbone is a loop around a park. Also prevalent on this half is an interchange with a steam railroad which runs along a river.

And here is the entire layout. As far as trackwork is concerned, I'll find a way to make the upper right traction connection disappear, but otherwise it is complete.

And thanks for pointing out the trolleybus poles John. Not quite what I am looking for, but they've been filed for other uses. There's some poles coming similar to the ones on this route (in fact built by the same person) in the near future to fill out the RWA amongst other projects. See "The Riverland Lines" elsewhere in the WIP forum.

Thanks,
Zach

This has gotten to the point where I am considering it "Done". It's going into testing this week.

Have you considered these John's inner city buildings?

Yes, I have been working hand in hand with JP to fill out the scene. The two buildings in that thread are present on the route. In fact, a good portion of the are his, from various packs built over the past few years.
