NS SD80MAC

Unread postby TheTeenageFoamer » Sun Dec 27, 2015 5:13 pm

Hi! today I started making a NS SD80MAC out of the DTG SD80MAC, yes I know eyein12 has a SD80/90MACs but I thought I would make one for those who have this pack instead.
This pack will include a horsehead and non-horsehead scheme, I just started it about an hour ago so its not going to be perfect but I will work on it some more

Nice repaints! Even today,I'm limited to the steam DLC only (britkits engines were never bought),so a repaint of the SD80MAC from steam would be nice!

As I said before, it will be a great and nice livery, mainly because all CSX SD80MAC were transferred to NS, in spite of........ **!!bang!!**
NS SD80MAC have currently road numbers from 7200 to 7228 but they are using the standard NS livery.

At first I read some of that information here in RWA or in Steam. I don´t remember where. It would seem that when DTG released their DLC all CSX were already transferred to NS. Then I started my own research.

All were originally Conrail. All 13 of the CSX SD80MAC passed to NS. Today CSX do not have more SD80MAC in their roster any more.
And the remaining of the current 29 NS units (7200-7228) came straight from Conrail.

It looks like acquired some.

More fuel for repainting that loco in Conrail colors:
Here is a YouTube with a black NS SD80MAC at the head and a Conrail Quality SD80MAC at the tail with a NS road number which suggest that came straight from Conrail:

In this two you have Conrail units with CSX road numbers:

NS originally received 17 SD80MACs as part of the split-up of Conrail. NS received another 12 SD80MACs via trade for 12 SD40-2s with CSX. NS also purchased 100 SD90MACs from UP via EMD, for their SD70ACU rebuild program. !!*ok*!!

I agree. I was wrong with the 13. One unit of CSX was scrapped and therefore did not pass to NS, which in Dec 2014 had 29 units operational out of the 30 acquired by Conrail.
But according to Wikipedia the CSX trade was for 23 SD40-2.

I'm just relaying info from the two roster sites that I check out frequently. I personally couldn't tell you for sure !*don-know!*
