VIA Rail F40

Unread postby bh762 » Fri Nov 13, 2015 3:39 am

This has been done for a while now; I'll try to get it uploaded soon. It's not exactly accurate, but it's as close as I'm going to get it.

Is this based on the Soldier Summit F40PH, and will it have a HEP (const 900rpm) version?

It's a repaint based on the F40PH from RSC. The one I have came with the California Zephyr DLC.

Thanks for doing this one... Good work! I thought it was impossible. How did you do it?

Would copying the the textures onto the Soldier Summit F40PH work?

I don't have that DLC so I'm not sure. It could work if it uses the same model. Might be worth a try.

I did this repaint a long long time ago, so I don't recall exactly how everything went together. I just messed around with it a bit; trial and error and that sort of thing.

It is not exact, that's probably why it fits the model. The exact paint scheme is not the same on both sides.
This is only apparent when looking at pictures of the real thing. Personnally, this is good enough for me.

I made two versions of it for a friend, and from what I've seen on screenshots they look the same on both sides...which things are not the same ? !*don-know!*

Compare your repaint (superb, by the way) to the one above from bh762.
On your repaints there are pointy yellow parts, behind the cab doors. They are absent on bh762's repaints.

In an old thread, Buzz said the DTG F40PH was impossible to repaint in a livery with slanted lines. Bh762's repaints do away with the slanted lines.

Or my memory could be eroded and I could be entirely off track.
!!jabber!!

Is your repaint based on the DTG model or the old DRB one?

I choose DTG's Soldier Summit F40 for this *!!wink!!* Hardest thing on this repaint was the numbers ( you know the SS F40 have 3 digits, but I get it work with a trick to shown up the numberboard with 4 digits ) and the VIA logo.

That's great news! I would certainly be happy if you published this repaint.
The DRB engine is too primitive for use.

Maybe I should do that, but I've done this repaint for a friend of me...I have to ask him if it's ok to upload them here ok ?
