El Paso - Tucson Route

Unread postby stationmaster101 » Sun Nov 08, 2015 12:02 pm

Well it's been awhile since I've actually worked on something so I decided to get around to start work on a route that I will start in El Paso TX and hopefully complete in Tucson AZ at some point. So far I've only laid track the double mainline track that runs through El Paso and some scenery in two spots. I also plan to model 3 or more of the rail yards in the area as well as most of the industrial spurs. Finally I do apologize for the poor quality of the pictures.

Kudos. Great start, hope you keep going with it.

The roof of that structure doesn't let you see up through to the sky?

Well in some spots there is a building build right over the trench, but other than that yess you can see up through it

Finished the Dallas Street Yard, next I'll be moving onto the final yard the "Alfalfa" yard which is located on the westward side of El Paso and will be the farthest west point on the route.

and here are some shots of the Santa Fe Yard

For a while I played as Yardmaster at the El Paso yards in Freight Yard Manager. Lots of operational possibilities there. Should be a great switching route when you get things done.

I had some difficulty running the BNSF yard, however. Didn't seem all that well laid out, but I suppose that was my inexperience. I think my biggest problem was moves between the BNSF yard and the International yard. I wonder if anyone here will end up painting rolling stock for the Mexican railway.

Been roughly a month since I was last able to touch TS-2016 long enough to build and after spending several hours i finished all the track work i wanted to in el paso now I have to decide if I want to model the scenery of the city or move onto building the track work to the next city.
Image
If this map is to clustered or the detail is poor i could take closer pictures over the whole length of the track I have layed since i'm sure nobody wants to see the poor quality track pictures I have.

Do the track work. We can gang up on the scenery.

I hate to be negative here, but have you placed any rolling stock in your yards yet? Looks like you are overlapping the ballast a bit and might be making the tracks too close together??
