CP rail and CN Cylindrical Hoppers

Unread postby CPRailfan34 » Mon Jul 06, 2015 6:51 pm

Hi guys! I have officially started on my next set of hoppers and started off with the CP rail vectors I made from scratch using an old image I found, I made both of the Multi-marks and both colours of the logo. Now all I need to do is paint the rail cars themselves into their colours!

here are the images of my Vectors and the image I used to make them:

These vectors will be used in my repainting process.

Thanks krellnut, I will be working on the grey ones shortly, one with a red logo and the other with the black one. Then the famous Rainbow CN potash car, although this is a double sided car, each with a different color of numbers on each side. This could prove to be tricky to auto number. The decals on the other hand should be straight forward. I am saving the CN car for last because it it will prove to be very difficult to create. Feel free to suggest anything that can help with the double sided number colors.

If you need help with the numbers holler. Much as they are a pain I can probably help you out.

Thanks for the offer Buzz! !!*ok*!! I'll let you know when the rainbow car is finished being repainted, it won't be for a while though. I know how to repaint the numbers them selves, but have two different colors on one car? That will be a Railworks first! I have studied the car and it's got the default red noodle on the right side and the rainbow design with white Noodle decals on the left. I don't think any numbers will need to be repainted, but a modification to the bin file to allow for a set of numbers for each side, I wonder if making a white variant of the Futura red would be in order to make the car look even. Having two different text types wouldn't look right. I can make the white repaint for the numbers. It's just figuring out how to put them on either side of this car. But first I'll complete the CP Rail grey liveries. Give me a holler if you'd like me to send you the finished repaint with the white numbers included. I think some experimentation will be in order, to see if it is possible to place two different sets of numbers on a single rail car. I also realized it might be a new bin for the numbers to be grabbed from, containing possibly both bin references in it to tell the car to grab two sets of numbers instead of one. !*don-know!* just brainstorming for now till the real work begins.

Thanks, Andrew (CPRailfan34)

That would first have to be a change in the Geo file, otherwise the regular system just does mirror in the numbers so two different colors can't normally be done. This is based off of who's original creation?

Greatnortherner's cylindrical hopper, I will be using the CN pack for that car as it already comes in the red noodle, all I have to is add the rainbow side to it along with the decals, although I have a feeling I may have to paint the numbers onto it if I have to which limits the amount of cars you can place in the consist of your choice. I've never edited a Geo file before. Never had to for my repaints till I decided to do the rainbow scheme. The question is can the autonumbering be done?

Why don't you ask Michael if he would be so kind as to change the files so you can do this. The Geo is his so you can't change it without his permission. Maybe he will change it for you.

The lettering looks kind of fuzzy to me.
