NILES CANYON RAILWAY

Unread postby dleeboy » Wed May 13, 2015 6:02 pm

Niles Canyon Railway is the latest Route I am making. It is a scenic Railway based on the heritage railway NCRy Niles Canyon Railway that runs through Niles Canyon In Fremont California. My version starts in Niles and runs to Sunol. The real Niles Canyon Railway operates along a portion of the First Transcendental Railroad constructed in the 1860s.The line uses old Southern Pacific Railroad track. The length of the route will be around 9 miles long. On the other side of the Niles Canyon Railroad there is Union Pacific Freight service in use daily. I will be making that side also. I have about half of the track laid for both sides. I am working on the scenery now to meet that point. I had another copy of the route more complete but I lost it all when I upgraded my computer. This is not a problem because I will make the route more accurate than I had it before. I do not make my own assets so I use what I have Freeware and Payware. I have other routes in the file library on this site that I have made. So for those that have downloaded my work already know how I make my routes. I am putting some screen shots of the work in progress. I want to thank PappaExpress for allowing me to use the Niles sign that he made. It makes a big difference in the route. I will continue to update everyone on my progress. Once I have enough scenery done I will make some videos and post them here. I do not have a date on when the route will be finished. I am hoping for Summer but time will tell. I am using 3D trains SP track and his trees. I hope everyone will enjoy this new route I am making. I have been wanting to do this for along time.

I thought it was great.
I'm very familiar with that area. I used to drink beer and eat pizza right on the other side of Alameda creek at the Fremont interlocker.

That first screen shot looks like the Sullivan underpass.

Yes i don't know it by name but if that is the underpass near the niles platform yes that is what it is . I am going for more detail in this version of the route. I should be a couple of more days in the downtown area before i go up the track. I have both bridges in without scenery around them. And i have the underpass in where the track starts to go up the canyon. With ai cars going underneath its starting to look real.

That looks great.
Yes, the Sullivan underpass is near the passenger platform at Niles.

I can't believe how far you've gotten already.

Here is the latest update I made it to the Dresser Bridge. I still have to do some scenery on the other side on the Union Pacific Track. I have most of that done I have the roads and the houses in. I have to add some trees then I will be at the Dresser Bridge on that side also. http://youtu.be/wvKDa8fllfA
