Great Northern Steam

Unread postby gkbaldwin » Tue Mar 10, 2015 9:46 am

I have been doing some repaints of Dick Cowen's Britkit USRA steam.

Dick has been so kind to update his line of steam, fixing some items and adding some new tweaks, allowing me to complete this updated set of repaints.

I did a GN Steam pack back in September 2014, but do to the updates on Dick Britkits steam packs, these will for the most part no longer work. So I have updated all the GN steam and expanded the packs with more options and choices.

I had bundled the whole line of steam altogether last time, but this time I will be uploading them separately so one can choose, which one they want or not and I have included a little batch file for configuring (tweaking) the repaints for different looks.

These will require Dick's latest updates on his steam packs, installed and working.

I will start with the 2-6-2 Prairie and have been doing some heavyweight passenger cars (based on the Britkits heavyweight car) in GN as well, so one can do both freight and passenger runs.

Here is a preview.

The 2-6-0 Mogul and 2-6-2 Prairie GN steam have been uploaded.

Also, I have uploaded a set of 3 paint version of GN Heavyweight passenger cars. These are repaints of Dick Cowen's HW Coach Pack.

I know there are some other GN HW passenger equipment in the library, but I couldn't find any done in GN Olive Green so I did these and went ahead and did them in all paint schemes GN used. You can choose to use these or the other ones already in the library.

Super work! I'm looking forward to seeing how you worked with the texture mapping. One of my ongoing projects is a Southern Railway light 4-6-2 and 4-8-2. I've done gold cab-side names and numbers for the freight locos, but the SRR passenger green and gold striping still eludes me.

Thanks, Harry.

I will be uploading the Pacific's and Mountain's next, along with the USRA switchers.

There is a Green Passenger Southern steam out there, but not sure if it will still work given the changes to the .geo files.

Take Care, Gerry

Buzz did the Southern Ps-4 Heavy Pacific and it is really nice. At the time he didn't own the light pacific and the 4-8-2 wasn't out yet. I've done a lot of SRR rollingstock and locos that I use on the NERW PA route. Most of them have been uploaded to RWA.

Hi all;

Uploaded the following GN Steam:

4-6-2 Pacific's (Light and Heavy)
4-8-2 Mountains (Light and Heavy)
USRA Switchers

I will try and get the 2-10-2 Santa Fe Light and both 2-6-6-2 and 2-8-8-2 Mallet uploaded this weekend as well.

This will finish the GN Steam Locomotives Update.

Cheers, Gerry

Hi all;

I have been having problems uploading to the site library (not sure what was going on), but have successfully uploaded the last three Great Northern Steam packs to the library.

These are USRA 2-6-6-2 and 2-8-8-2 Mallets and 2-10-2 Light Santa Fe type steam locomotives. This completes the GN steam Pack updates.

Cheers, Gerry

Thank you a lot for your outstanding work. I enjoyed it already with the previous version.

Just one remark:
Your "old" upload from last year is still available. I think this is not fully compatible with the update by britkits from last winter. Could you place a remark about the newer versions in this older upload ? I think some newbees would be grateful.
