One from the VRC Repaint Kit - in progress

This will require the purchase of the original, and the repaint pack.

Needs text finished, numbers in roman, weathering, etc. Overall though a good start IMHO.

Also: why aren't you guys who wanted to repaint the 40 getting busy? After all, this has the PSD template and all the tools. And we'll loan the license for any company we have. (read the User Agreement)

Expect a few other roads from the UP stable in the near future.

Absolutely fantastic. Look forward to the dirty, grimy, weathered, oily, little rust here and there version. *!greengrin!*

Making an SP GP40M-2 like this one was the main reason I bought the loco and undec pack (since I can't have the BN one). Fortunately for myself and the community, it looks like that unit is in much better hands than mine! Keep up the great work!

Hey mike.
The Cotton Belt ones have the same livery but roman lettering... and variations on the nose. Some have the road number, others during the 70s and 80s had SSW on the nose. *!greengrin!*
Our S.P. stable is completely shy of Saint Louis and Southwestern (Cotton Belt) equipment.
Even a nice fresh shopped version or two based on the Donner Engines would be nice.

This is pretty close to the real Lark Grey paint.

The nose and the tail.... we don't have one with the nose light or the tail lights. SSW also put the numbers on the anticlimber, and had a snow ready horn.

And the hand brake.... OH THE HAND BRAKE!

notice its a wheel?

*!greengrin!*

Yes, we at VRC count rivets too. We just chose when and where to add them.

I love SP for all of its variations and unique loco features. That said, I imagine that the bulk of their locos from the 60s-90s are a nightmare to model for the exact same reasons.

Not really.
Child objects like the headlights can be adapted to more than one model of loco once once a little "kit" is put together.
Caesar already has a working Gyra Light on the S.P. SD45.
They model air conditioning and other features specific to certain roads all the time.

The sweepstakes giver can't win the prize, this unit is great, but i'm partial to the old roman-style SP units. Something about it says "heavy duty". Those were the first units that I saw the very first time I visited a hobby shop.

The Gyra headlights on the SD45 are not children.

Also as one who has modeled headlights as children (and Mike can attest to this). Its a pain.

Because of the weird number locations, these are going to be fixed numbers and two models.

Jerry did a good job inverting the numberboards. The SP is near finished, one or two small bugs to fix. THe SSW is in the raw starting stages.
