My current project is a fictional Central Vermont line in Northwestern Vermont, in the area of Lake Champlain just south of the Canadian Border. It will feature interchanges with the Rutland Railroad to the south and The Delaware & Hudson across the lake in New York State, reached via a long wooden trestle. In addition to this, I have created a fictional shortline, the Western Vermont Railroad, which will have its own line with a large customer being a granite quarry. Since the CV was a subsidiary of the CN, there will be a lot of CN rolling stock and locomotives pinch-hitting for the CV. There will also be a good amount of Rutland content and some D&H stuff as well.










There's still a LOT of work to do...i've gotta stop getting caught up in repaints!

Which granite quarry are you doing? We get most of our stuff from Rock of Ages in Barre. Some of the pits are a 1/4 mile deep and a mile across.

No kidding! Rock of Ages is definitely on the list for a major inspiration, as is H.E. Fletcher, which is in Massachusetts. Always wanted to visit ROA. They've got a 70 tonner and a tank engine on display there. There's some really good shortline history linked in with Rock of Ages, if I can get Dick Cowen's 2-4-2T to work it would certainly find a suitable home shunting gondolas and flats.

Purchased Dick Cowen's 2-6-0 Mogul today and I have to say it has to be my favorite loco I've bought so far. Excellent sound, detail and a classic branchline look will make it great shortline power for the Western Vermont, once I have the tender re-lettered. Seen here in an as-yet-unnamed city, interchanging with the Central Vermont.

Great looking route! I used to go to the Lake Champlain (Shelburne) area on business, and enjoyed that area immensely. Keep up the excellent work!!!

I've a lot of work to do before it will be release-able but i"ll be sure to send you the beta version when it is finished!

Got back to the route yesterday and began work on the Boulanger Granite Company quarry at the very end of the Western Vermont shortline, their largest customer. The Western Vermont 2-6-0 is standing in for a BGC 0-6-0 and 0-8-0, which I bought from Britkits today. I also hope to figure out why the Britkits 2-4-2T isn't working so I can have a well-rounded industrial roster for the quarry.

Western Vermont WIP repaint of the fabulous Frisco version of the RWA RS-1...I really like the taller stack, horn placement and beacon of the Frisco RS-1. Gives the locomotive a very robust appearance.




I've been spending a lot of time on the CV portion of the route as well as the Western Vermont shortline segment. I've also been working on writing a backstory for the WV. Unfortunately I keep getting distracted by B&M reskin ideas....There's a lot to be done!

Rick, One of the pictures you listed has electrification. Where is that supposed to be? Are you planning electrified interurban? Impressive work!!!

The pictures with electrification were taken on the TestTrak route when I was testing out the repaints!

Thanks. Not a real big fan of electric or steam. With your route, I would probably like to use early diesel, but that's just personal preference. Above you mentioned you had so many things to do, B&M repaints, etc. Hopefully, you take your time and don't buckle to the pressure of people like me pushing to know when it will be done? (I have never asked that of anyone, by the way). As Buzz has "bluntly" answered many times, "It will be done when its done". Keep up the great work!!
