Classic NEC Reskins

My favorite era and location: The Northeast Corridor in the 70s/80s! I felt as though the existing AEM-7 and Amfleet skins were lackluster so I made my own;

Image
Phase III AEM-7: I'm not quite happy with the colours. It looks correct to me, but I'm not the most colour-savvy person.

Unfortunately, there are a few more minor problems; the stripes don't quite line up (Due to the geometry of the ridges, I assume) and the logo isn't the right font (Arial as opposed to Helvetica). The logo still looks convincing so I'll leave it like that. As for the stripes, I'm not able to make them perfect anyway. I stopped noticing this after a while, so maybe you guys don't consider that a problem.

I can't find a lot of info on Phase IV AEM-7s. Were there enough Phase IV AEMs to justify making a skin of one?

Image
Phase II Amfleets: No logos just yet (I just haven't gotten around to it)

Image
Phase III Amfleets: Again, no logos. The colours might be a bit too light, but honestly I think that makes the stripes look faded-- which is fine by me.

Image
Phase IV Amfleets: Because why not?

I do plan to release the coaches and the engine in one pack. What would really complete the pack are Metroliners and E60s, unfortunately I'm not a modelmaker. . . yet.

Here's an update after a few more hours of work;

Image
I corrected a few of the handrail colours. I'm a little bit more satisfied with this one now.

Image
Phase IV! The stripes on this one look pretty gross- I actually tried to fix it this time. It's either the stripes aren't aligned on the front or the stripes go weird for a little section on the side. I opted for weird over misalignment.

Image
Phase II Amfleets-- now with logos! I couldn't find many reference pictures for the logo position so I just stuck it where there was enough space.

Image
Phase III Amfleets-- not much new except for the text.

Image
Phase IV Amfleets-- nothing new except for the logos.

Looks great! Glad to see the AEM-7 finally getting some needed attention. Also, what pack are the Amfleet cars you repainted from?

New York to New Haven-- really only because of the passenger view. I might do a standard NEC version sometime in the future.

I'll be packaging these for release soon, if you have any criticisms/suggestions/etc to level, please do so now so I have some time to make those changes.

Sorry to be the nit picker but...

That would be Phase I. DO NOT FRET though, Amfleets were in Phase I colors.

I'm sure it's possible, but I'd rather keep these repaints dependent on only the engine/car they are repainted from.

These are looking awesome man! I personally think you should only use the NY-NH Amfleets because of their passenger views. I suggest you find a method to move and recolor the dynamic numbers on the AEM's. I don't know if the Phase IV Amfleets are worth making since there are IVb's included with the NEC, NYNH, and HHP packs. Will installing repaints cause the bundled career scenarios in NY-NH to load an error?

I don't think it's possible to transfer between models.

Maybe DTG or a third party can produce an E60 with scenarios for both NEC routes.

Phase IV and Phase IVb are not the same. Phase IV uses the classic "Amtrak" text instead of their wave logo. The colours also seem to differ from the RSC Amfleets and the ones I've seen in real life.

They shouldn't-- they install and appear separately. I personally haven't had problems running NYNH career scenarios since I made these, so unless something went wrong when I packaged the skins you should be fine.

Dude, isn't it a good idea to include some QuickDrive (preload) consists as well? Many of us don't want to spend too much time in the QD editor built in.

I would, but it's quite a hassle to do so since I have no idea to use it. I know several freeware addons that have PreLoads (quick drive consist) in the .rwp.

Edit: if I install the reskins will they appear on AI trains?

Edit 2: I ran the installer for the Amfleets, they don't appear in the editor. Look in your PM's.

Edit 3: Consider this for a colorguide if you haven't done so. http://3dtrains.com/guides/msts_colors/ ... ndex.shtml

The repaints are great are you planning on making the short lived Acela regional scheme on the amfleets. Also while installing the repaints I go on ts2015 the aem-7s are there but the amfleets aren't theyre listed but they don't appear.
