Roaring Camp Big Trees

Unread postby dleeboy » Tue Oct 07, 2014 4:14 pm

I am making a new route it is called the Roaring Camp Big Trees. It is a fictional route based on a real Scenic Railroad located in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California. Their are two sections it starts at Olympia and heads down to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The other section starts at Roaring Camp witch is in the mountains. From Olympia to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk it is about 11 miles long. And the Roaring Camp section is about 8 miles long. The Roaring camp section has a wooden trestle witch run about three quarters of a mile. I have put in a Western town after you get off of the trestle. I put in a farm and cattle ranch along the way in the Roaring Camp section. I also put in a small town at the loop of the roaring Camp section. I am going to put two PDF files to show everyone the way the real route track layout is. Mine is a little bit different since it is a fictional route based on the real thing. I will put a link to my Photobucket library. I will also put YouTube links of videos that I have made of the route. When it is done I will list what Payware routes I have used. I will package up the freeware one for people to download from my MediaFire site. I will post my updated progress in this post from time to time. For those that don't know I made the Skunk Train Route that is on this site. I hope everyone enjoys it I love making routes. If anyone has any question just ask and I will reply to the best of my ability. http://youtu.be/Y4cz096CgSs http://youtu.be/MtGTAF-uGr0 http://youtu.be/z89BIlR10HE http://youtu.be/l5QZF1P97lY http://s37.photobucket.com/user/dleeboy/library/

You have a fantastic eye - it really looks wonderful. I have no idea just where to start and am in awe of the route builders. It might motivate me to have a go at retro working some of Sherman Hill to make it more steam friendly. Will see.

Look forward to future updates...

!*cheers*!

My route goes down to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. So I did my best to make the roller coaster that is their. Here are some pictures of the roller coaster and the pier in Santa Cruz. I am also putting up two pictures of the tunnel that is in the route. I have a question I know that their is a fairies Wheel in one of the routes which route is it.

Hi,

I'm afraid I don't know about the amusement park either, but I can tell you that this is an ingenious use of the wooden trestle loft! The tracks in the forest look very atmospheric too.

Cheers

Thank You I use a lot of your beautiful assets in my routes. Without them my routes would not be the same. So I want to thank you very much. I know it is not a perfect roller coaster but it will do to let people know that there is one there. I don't have the talent making my own assets so I use yours and other assets to build my routes. I look at a asset and try to come as close to what is really their. I know that there is a Farris Wheel in one of the Payware routes I just have not found out witch one it is yet. Hopefully someone will know and tell me. I am going to put in what I have to represent the Beach Boardwalk section. I will make more videos of my progress as I go on.

Hey Dleeboy, what trees are you using on this route? (ie: what DLC or content pack are they from?)

Hello I am using three different kinds of trees. The main one is from Maria Pass it is fir number two. The other is from stevens pass and the third is from 3d trains. I use the asset block alot and the new tool since the update that you can make a single asset bigger or smaller. I am using other kinds too mostly from Maria Pass.

Hello!

Do you know when you will release it? Will it be a payware or freeware.

And are you searching for beta tester? :)

Thanks,
Alex

It will be Freeware because I use a lot of Payware assets. If I knew how to make my own I would. I tried I can not figure it out. So I use Payware and freeware assets. I do not have a time schedule I work on it a little bit everyday. I have a friend that tests my routes out when they are done. I am working on Downtown Santa Cruz now and it is looking good. I will take some screenshots when I get a little more done. The more I work on it the more it comes to life. For those people that know what the Santa Cruz Boardwalk looks like I use what assets I have and match them as close as I can. I will go now and take some screen shots of Santa Cruz it is not done but everyone will get an idea of what it will look like when I am done.

Hello!

Very nice work on this, would you accept someone else to test your route? :D

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for your offer I have a long ways to go. I prefer not to put it out until I am done. If you have most of the American Routes then you should be fine I will package up the freeware assets. All the Payware routes that I use you can get on steam if you do not have what I have. There is one payware route that is not on steam that you will need. It is from eyein12 he has them for sale at his site. I am sending the RouteProperties.xml file for everyone to see what assets I am using. Remember I have a long ways to go. But this will let everyone see if you will need more assets for the route to look like the way I intend it to look. The route will work without all the assets. But it won't be complete without all of them.
