WIP- CSX "A" Line Jacksonville to Tampa, FL

Unread postby SCLALINE » Mon Oct 04, 2010 10:53 am

Greets,

Jason here, i am making the changeover after lots of frustration with the other sim, i am getting the bug to get back into route designing, so here comes the CSX A Line

the route will run from Just North of Moncrief Yard in Jacksonville,Florida to Bradenton, FL (Which is not part of the A Line but i am going to Model the Tropicana Plant so the juice trains can run :)

The route is a shade over 230 Miles, will have 3 Major Yards (Moncrief, Uceta, and Yeoman Yards) as well as the Phosphate Connection at Lakeland (I may end up adding Bone Valley after the rest is done)

Plenty of Intermodal, Auto, and Switching areas, as well as alot of main line running.

I have Redem set up as well as RW Decals which is why i am very excited about this route, frankly i got burned out for a while, but watching the videos of the CSX Main line and SMM Digitals Atlanta North NS division have brought some spark back into me, and despite its shortcomings i feel railworks will allow me to reach the level of realism and detail i was hoping for before.

it will be a little while to get things going, but i feel i will be actually able to complete my dream now.

Yours,
Jason Webb WX4JCW

Sounds great! Strangely enough I have been looking at my old Model Rairoader magazines and they have a layout for the Juice Distribution Center in there. I am attempting to put it on my route, but was not going to call it Tropicana, since my route is in PA, and fictional. They run a lot of juice out of Bradenton. Good luck with your route. 230 miles is a big chunk of territory. I have 50 miles of track laid down and only 20 sceniced. Thats 3 months of work for me. I got two helpers 2 weeks ago, they are oputting down scenery and painting, so it is possible we may have it done by December this year.

Juice train! !*YAAA*!

They run one of those from Florida up to Cincinnati - I see them often. I'm gonna be watching this one for a couple reasons:

- I'm near a big CSX route and yard in Cincinnati
- My parents lived in Bradeton so I know the area from visits there
- I love seeing unique trains like the juice train

Keep us posted - thanks!

(This is my first post: by way of introduction, some of you may know me from the OVSRails site, where I've been active for a number of years. I'm a big fan of RailWorks and I used to run a lot of MSTS, especially Rich Garber's Ohio Rail and Canton routes. I hope to contribute here as much as I can.)

The world editor is so easy to work in, you will not miss route editor from MTS that's for sure. The only thing I do miss in fact is forest regions. Anyways, Railworks looks so good and I'm glad that more and more people are coming over to join.

Hi Jason, it's good to see posts from you again and glad you made the transition to Railworks. I think you will find it much easier to work with. Keep up the good work on the CSX A-Line. I enjoyed your MSTS route and always hoped you would finish it. My son and I spent many great afternoons railfanning the Deland and Orlando areas before we moved to South Carolina. Are you looking at the CSX or ACL/SCL era? It would be awesome to see some ACL F-units and Geeps along with the E7 passenger trains that used to prowl that area.

We'll have to see, my expertise is putting the route together, my 3d modelliing skills arent up to building rolling stock yet, route first then hopefully it might motivate some modellers to make Some ACL/SCL equipment (I do have Card Diagram books)

It looks really good. I notice you said that the line was about 230 miles long. Have you thought about releasing it in parts like other some other routes have been?

I will probably release it in sections with the final download being the entire route

right now the first part is kind of a test of how i am going about building the route, i learned alot from mistakes with MSTS and plan to work on alot of custom buildings and "clutter" that identify the route

right now i am dealing with the art plugins and how to get a model into the sim, once i get to that point i can rock and roll
so i am looking for tutorials for 3dsmax 11 now to show me how to do this.
