VIA F9

Here's a little something I've been working on for the last couple of days.

Image

It's a repaint of the f9 from the britkits f megapack in some earlier VIA rail colours. I still need to touch a few things up, and probably try my hand at weathering it a bit. Would be awesome if i could figure out how to add some of the fittings that come with the pack.

Awesome!
I remember those from my childhood. Not very rusty, but the paint on the nose was chipped a lot from hitting things like gravel and the occasional moose.

Thanks everbody. My first couple of attempts at weathering turned out okay, managed to get something that kind of looks like paint chips and wear on the nose, think I'll hold off on the moose guts though :D Still playing around with the colours and trying to redo the autonumbering so it's the right font. Have a little problem editing the numbers though; dxtbmp apparently doesn't approve of the changes and wont save them.

If you're having trouble saving from DXTBmp you need to check that you are saving in the right DX format so it's the same as the original file.

Still no luck. When I load the dds into dxtbmp it says that it's DXT3, and thats what it is saved as. **!!bang!!**

Got the number problem sorted out, had to use mspaint *!rolleyes!* . Think I'm pretty much settled on the colours, so now they just need some weathering and a few minor touch ups.

Right now each of these has it's own folder, which is kind of a waste seeing as the only difference is one texture file.

Looking very good!

If you need help with fittings, suggest taking a look at all the variants that come with the britkit packs. Some versions have various fittings installed & you can basically copy the sections of configuration file and the parts into the folders for your own model.

Looking very nice!
Could you repaint the trucks as well? I always cringe when I see the Britkits blue trucks.
