Hello everyone, I am excited to bring you all some good news. :D Over the last several months, I have slowly been working on a special project, the 16 mile long Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, between Cumberland and Frostburg, MD.

The trackwork is about 40 - 50% done, and I have only done about 1 - 5% of the scenery. The route will not only include the tourist line, but several miles of the CSX railroad including the Mountain Subdivision to Ellerslie, MD at the Maryland - Pennsylvania border, the northern end of Cumberland yard, and two to three miles of the Grafton line.

Track on the scenic railroad is done from Ridgeley yard (Cumberland), to just north of Brush Tunnel. Track on the Mountain Subdivision is only done from north Cumberland yard to The Narrows, and the Grafton line's track is pretty much done. Signals have not been placed on the route yet.

When I complete the trackwork, I will release a beta onto Steam Workshop publicly. Because I plan to host my route on Steam Workshop, this keeps me from using the RCAP assets on the route. When I complete the route, and if I feel up for it, I might edit the scenery and release a separate version here onto RWA that includes the RCAP assets used.

These are the payware assets I have used so far:

Horseshoe Curve
Marias Pass
Donner Pass
Kuju American Assets

Some screenshots...

The Grafton line crosses over the Western Maryland's track and Wills Creek in Cumberland, looking south.

Viaduct Junction in Cumberland, looking north towards, "The Narrows", a deep water gap in the mountains formed by Wills Creek. Originally, four tracks ran through the canyon, two on either side.

A few shots of the only finished scenery on the route: the southern portal of Brush Tunnel.

Thanks guys! I've certainly been taking my time, and making backups at least twice a month on an external drive and my main hard drive. If by chance I do decide to turn this into vaporware, I will release something onto Steam Workshop so at least the route is available somewhere. But then I would probably regret scratching the route and begin working on it again... which leads to the question of why I would get rid of the route in the first place... !**duh*!!

Nice work, John. You certainly picked a pretty part of the country to recreate. Looking forward to it.

Testing out the route to Grafton in quick drive mode...

With the recent snowfall throughout the state, I'd thought that I would take a look at the route in winter. I heard that Cumberland got 8+ inches dumped on it!

Really shaping up nicely, John. Like Buzz said, take your time and keep it fun. It's looking great, and I love that you have Quick Drive in there. I'm really beginning to like that feature in TS. Hey, it keeps it fun! !!*ok*!! !*salute*!

Looks very Nice, I have several pics from August of the turntable in Frostburg, some of the passenger cars and WM734 0-8-0, would be glad to share them if you need them.

WM # 734 is a 2-8-0 Consolidation, not an 0-8-0. Now we just need somebody to repaint the Connie by Smokebox into the Western Maryland "Fireball" paintscheme!

A couple of GP30 repaints into WM would be nice as well, however I never bought the one by DTM so that wouldn't do anything for me...

Yes your right just a typo 2-8-0 . When DTM re releases the GP30 a WM unit would be great. Although I think a couple of WM's low hood GP9's would look so good

Looks like the game thinks I am still using RCAP on the route, therefore I cannot upload the route to Steam Workshop. !!bang!! Instead, I will use RCAP assets from the start and release the route here at RWA.

More information on the route to come soon! :D

Interesting, feel free to use some of my freeware assets as well if you want. I've did a pack of freeware and a pack of 1960's vehicles. And also the next of the 1960's vehicles will also be coming real soon.

...Cheers...
