If ever wondered what Ford Assembly would look like being operated (with a tour) this is the time.
And if there was anyone as understated as I am about this thing of ours we go Mr. Schnauzahpowahz right here:

He's like a kid in a candy store and he just bathes himself in all things Bergen. If you haven't already, check out his other videos in general and of the Bergen Specifically. And do subscribe to his channel so I get even MORE endless ads about Viagra (like a I need that). !!jabber!!

Carry on!

But man, he does not miss anything!
See update 244 ... weasel.

Carry On.

One more thing: When I final for 1. Clarification and 2. to lessen some of the confusion for my brothers and sisters on Norwegian Bergen Line, I will be renaming the route: New York Division-Bergen County Line

* I removed county early on to save space so I could do stuff like V. CMLXVII or stuff like OTISVILLE!
* If my Norwegian Friends want to say thank you ... SEND PICKLED HERRING!

We know your here for the opera. I am here to play the opera. So suit up, and adjust your cummerbund, This is the ancient Norse Wednesday Route Report and Update Status for this Friday, June 25th, 2021.

This week's update status.

[ ] Wisdom is welcome wherever it comes from, particularly this update
[ ] He knows all who knows when to stop and finish his route
[ X ] Better to fight and fall than to live without hope of an update

Tonight's opera interlude is the finale to Gotterdammerung, Richard Wagner's opera. As you know, if I am playing Wagner we are getting to the end. A bit of mixed metaphors, but lets work with the theme.

I can safely say, I have nothing left to do. My own personal goals for the scope of this route, have gone far beyond what I envisioned. The drive and perseverance to complete this project came from some place I was not aware of. The will and desire to do this is very gratifying. And with that said, I am looking forward to this new phase of my life. This was part of me for 7 years and it did have a personal purpose. It served me well. It's amazing that I get to leave this to you to enjoy.

The update will occur after Sunday. As always, barring any unforeseen immense error, I will finalize. The extra two weeks that was taken, was a flurry of signal and track work, which finally came to a conclusion on Friday at the last update. Then, there was rest.

With that said, this is the final opportunity to point out any issues or reasonable requests for the route. I can dress up some area if you think it needs to be. I will be driving the route each night, and touching up here and there and enjoying the work.

And in the news: STILL NOTHING on the ELNJDOT U34CH. From my records it appears that Norfolk Southern has had the submission since October of 2020. On 15 April 2021 I was told that DTG has had the unit in QC. This infers approval by NS. For the record, we finished the units in April of 2020. (this is was one of my key shot in the dark goals - EL in the Workshop) Also, do keep an eye out for Schnauzahpowahz's next Bergen installment on Youtube, he is fantastic. Who knows maybe they are waiting for me to finish? I won't' hold my breath let me tell you.

Talk to you on Wednesday.

Carry on.

I have a confession to make.
I have dropped in and then dropped out of the Bergen Line !!**sorry**!!
When I've been in before I have been overwhelmed and totally daunted. I have been in the state " Heck this is so big I don't know where to start and .....Passenger trains". (I'm not keen on passenger trains - stop go, stop go - I prefer switching - needs more thought). So I dropped out. Repeat, repeat etc.
Then MaineLines started posting pictures of his switching operations. Schnauzahpowahz videos on his Youtube pushed me over the edge and I'm a convert.
There's plenty of switching and I don't even have to go into the big yards if I don't want to (I'll build up to it) and as for the Passenger trains - they run when I'm not there so that's solved that. WHY did I not think of this before - because I'm a dimwit.
Minerman, I have read all your posts from the day I joined RWA (and some earlier ones since) and have respected and admired your work (in fact as I said earlier I was overwhelmed). I have spent yesterday downloading EL equipment in preparation and this morning printing out track plans of various locations - East Rutherford is a switcher's dream (if a crew's nightmare!). My deepest thanks for all of your works, I now look forward to many happy hours moving the freight around the spurs and I'll give you a wave from the cab. *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!* My thanks to both MaineLines and Schnauzahpowahz also.

Mindenjohn - You will figure it all out and have a killer of a good time doing it!
See My Manual here: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/fil ... 327474544/
This will be updated even further after finalization. There are 2 key points that I wanted to make with the Guide.
1. Remove the guesswork of traffic and consists. I did this by listing EVERY SINGLE consignee, that tells you what they get and how often.
2. Traffic 'flow' and the concept of stations. These 'stations' are sidings dedicated to offloading local delivery and pickup of empties. In fact each consignee listing tells you: A. What station or yard the freight comes from and where empties go.

So for freight scenarios works like this:
1. Loaded trains are broken down at Croxton and Port
2. Locals "ordinaries" deliver 30 - 50 car drags to Suffern and Campbell Hall - cars are cut and delivered to local customers.
3. Other "ordinaries" deliver drags of cars to the individual stations: Carlstadt, Carlton Hill, Nabisco Siding, Waldwick and Red Onion
4. Then, other locals assigned to work the stations pickup and deliver to the consignees. See Carlstadt, Croxton Yard, Campbell Hall, Red Onion and even in Port Jervis.
5. Last, you reverse the process to take empties back to the principal yards, classify the empties by region and railroad and then ship your empties.
6. We even have some shippers that deliver WITHIN the route and that is also listed in the Manual
7. The Bergen has like a greater number of receiving businesses than shipping. The ones that do ship: FORD, Triumph Pet Foods, Royce Chemical, Nabisco, and Dubois (Diamond) Chemical are marked "SHIPPER" and tell you where the final destination is.

Remember this is a GUIDE not they way you MUST run the route. I really believe traffic flow will become self-evident.

Thanks for the encouragement and especially for the manual, VERY helpful and explains how Schnauzahpowahz was able to speak forth during his videos in respect to frequency and quantity of cars. How you found the time to do this, the manual and work for a living amazes me. Your Dad must have a good memory too!!

John, He used the manual and would have been lost without it. You see that I looked up what the component materials are for each business. It was this that helped me identify the types of cars. The bulk of the frequency I swagger with the exception of Ford which was documented. Funny you mentioned my Dad. He wasn't the conducter he was the engineer so his memory is of brakeman not knowing what they were doing and causing time wasting with unnecessary moves. For me I knew nothing it was my Dad's EL employee timetable that clued me in to the concept of stations. With that and track maps and the laying the track I had an " ah ha!" moment and saw how it worked. I feed thst back to my Dad and he pointed our that to understand movements you would have to work the trains first hand. It was common knowledge in the railroad and not documented.

When I was putting together the route I was worried that operations would not be self evident. So I put this guide together. From experience I would rather get building than research...so I figured research time would hurt scenario work so I did the work for you.

Lastly, I have a full time job.. I lost a good amount of sleep and yard work time and 100% television time.

Is there a model out there? If there is I would be happy to do a paint job or two.
