When using them I experience a large FPS drop that does not occur with any other loco. This occurs in both in-game and in the scenario editor, which I had not experienced before. Is there something about the repaints that would cause them to be more demanding on my system? I am puzzled because this issue does not occur with the standard UP SD45 on which the repaints are based. Again thanks for the great work.
Both the original UP livery and the reskin livery total texture file sizes are 162mb, ( that is for all textures used on the asset). I believe the game loads the UP texture under the reskin texture to make a 300+mb texture file size when loading a reskin, which may be a reason for a performance hit. I get the feeling that that is exactly what happens as when I repaint a loco, as I progress, the UP skin is seen on the reskin model as I go along. Therefore I must be loading two skins for each asset placed.
The actual texture maps for the bodywork are 2048x2048 (or 2mb maps) this is true for the original asset and the reskinned asset, these are considered large when compared to TS2012 texture maps. However, there are compressed maps for these reskins so you may have to reduce your graphics settings to make use of the compressed texture map. As an example, the 2mb texture map
hood_nm.dds has a file size of 21.3mb, the
hood_nmc.dds (compressed texture file as denoted by the nm
c) has a file size of 5.33mb.
I do not know what level of graphic setting needs to be applied in order for the game to start using the 'low resolution', compressed texture, I just know that this model has both texture files available.
