WIP CN SD40-2W DLC Reskin Projects

I'm working on a new repaint request by BNSF650 of a SD40-2W in Pennsylvania Northern's scheme.

Its in the early stages and still needs a lot of work including additional stripping on the long hood and the silver detailing of the tank and trucks needs a lot more work.

The combination of a tricky paint scheme and a brutal textures/model, this has been a bear of a repaint so far.

As a result of the model there will end up being a few non-prototypical items. For some reason, I just can not get cab door texture properly to work to include the grey/orange, so I have no choice but to keep the doors painted a single colour. As well, on the exhaust grill spark arrestor screen because of the it was textured there will be on orange line through the grey portion, there is nothing I can do about it. As well the snow shields have to remain as there is not way to remove them.

I still need to work on the silver trucks/boggies. Not happy with them. Also ended up doing a static numbering so I could add the rear number boards to the long hood. Alos, I think I'll try clean up the underlying texture a little, especially on the cab do the overlay colours are a little brighter.

Should be ready to release shortly but will wait until after the TS2013 update is done so I can check to make sure everything still works.

In light of the problem with the TS2013 upgrade rendering this Paid DLC unusable, I will be suspending any further work on this until further notice.

since youre doing the widecab repaints and know how to make child objects why not take a shot at the newly modifyed CN SD40-2W 5258 converted to burn natural gas....note the flared radiators like a SD45 behind the dynamic brakes.

the worst part is i have this model in the same number from intermountan in HO scale and now im ticked because its not accurate with the current one pictured above lol

Looks very interesting. Will give it some thought and keep it on my things to do list. Now that TS2013 is out I want to package up some other projects and get them into the library first.

Is it just me or is it set up on freight car trucks?
