Three scenarios? You have got to be kidding me. I had to spend another 8 bucks yesterday just so I could enjoy the NEC some more beyond the 4 boring included scenarios. Looks like I'll have to wait for another scenario pack before I waste my money on the Acela.

THIS is why RW needs a true career mode. Spending 20 bucks and only giving us 3 scenarios is a joke.

Honestly, there wasn't much else for them to write. Between Philly and NYC the Acela does the same exact runs day in and day out. There really isn't much variety in the service at all in real life. 3 is about what I expected.

if you don't like it, don't buy it. its that simple, most of us are gratefull that we even get the stuff nevermind getting a pile of scenarios along with it.

We at Trans and Drivers will start the development of our NEC Series V.2 Scenario Pack shortly.
Expect many new NEC scenarios.

BTW, the new NEC version made some fixes for V.1 necessary. Coming soon.

Yeah I purchased V.1 yesterday, found some issues I'll be looking forward to the update.

As for being happy with only 3. Only one actually goes the entire way from Phily to New York. The other two go from Trenton to New York and New York To Trenton. Oh boy we should be overwhelmed that they managed to give us that much out of the box. If they just gave two 1 way routes from New York to Phily with a few different variations in time so maybe easily 10 Scenarios even though they would basically be the same route I'd be delighted to purchase the package. But right now? No way. I was already disappointed with what they gave us in the original NEC and even more so with the Horseshoe Curve. I don't understand how you can spend all that time on development and only give us a few basic scenarios to do. Scenarios are fun and all but you do them once and that pretty much takes the fun out of doing it again because they ALWAYS have some special circumstance that happens every freaking time. I just want to run back and fourth in prototypical real life fashion, nothing weird happening, just normal work days. Hence why I want a career mode so badly. Currently the games playability ends when you run out of scenarios. With a career mode where I could just act like I'm working for the railroad, I get a schedule of what to do during the day and I do it. BAM endless playability.

Sorry this is the one thing that annoys me to no end with this sim.

Maybe if you took the time to learn to build a route, then build it, you might be able to answer your own question.

I'd have to agree with this. Building a route in RW, while it's easier to do than in MSTS, it's still takes a long time. I'm guessing (although I could be wrong), that most of the decent sized routes that have been released in the past years probably spent a year in building if not longer.

Just for fun, I played a bit with a "route" of my own. It essentially consisted of a yard, a bit of mainline, and then a circular track. I added some signals, but virtually no scenery. And it was surprising how much effort was involved to get just this little bit working. I suppose once you get good at it, it goes faster.

Another thought is that the faster the trains, the longer the route you really need to really experience the thing. If everyone were content to do shunting in a yard, then route creation would be a much easier job !*roll-laugh*!

!*roll-laugh*!

I know what you mean. I only got 20 miles of mainline tracks (not to mention one yard, one siding, and one industry spur) laid down on my route, and I'm just NOW applying the scenery. Oh, I still have much more to go than just the 20 miles. !*roll-laugh*!

I think you have a good point. Many of us uberfans spend time making up our own scenarios on the routes we have/buy, but for the majority of TS/RW players, you play what comes in the box, right? Short of buying additional scenarios, all you can do is repeat the same runs trying to best your own performance by some scale (which I do enjoy myself).

If I bought a golf game that only came with 3 courses, I would be disappointed too. I see an enormous amount of time spent by the freeware community (and payware and RSC) building routes and repainting rolling stock compared to the limited attention given to scenario writing. I don't say that to minimize anyone's efforts.... I know some folks are doing all they can to make more scenarios but they are time consuming to make, too (I just spent a month on one). All I wanted to say is, the Poster has a point... the simulation is about driving a train... it should come with LOTS of opportunities to drive a train. I don't have a solution to offer, just support for the issue.
