That because I thought Chacal might actually know what he's talking about.

although that may be a dash8 you could still do it using eyein12's model of the C40-8W if you can figure out where each texture goes on it.

Well I found a few pictures that may spark some interest in you...

Slightly dirty CN SW1500

Interesting weathering on this SD40u. Now im not shure how hard it will be to use the snoot nose sd40 that came in the independence pack but I think it may be just a modified version of the default which would make it paintable? Also the independence sd40 would be correct for this one since CN got the SD40u's from UP.

I will keep looking for interesting stuff to test your talent if you like, and I will try to stick with the addons that are easier to paint.

No and it would be hard to tell with the limited information we have and thelack of presision ("the old way" ?).
Maybe Nate could post the complete conversation.

Yeah the DDS thing makes no sense. What makes them so hard to paint is the somewhat incomprehensible way the stuff is scattered around. You can do about 85-90% without too much trouble and then you spend what seems to be half your life trying to find the odd fixture here or there that seems to be placed about totally randomly sometimes with things that are connected on a totally different page.

Oops...I double checked. It was a Dash 8......ex Santa Fe CN 2182.

Hasn't changed?? Reverse engineering the textures???? That certainly does sounds ridiculous to me too. *!rolleyes!*

i had this all painted out, but i kept getting an error trying to get it into game so i just gave up.

The SD40u is one of my favorite CN locos (that and the GP9RMs). Only problem is the unique angled front cab (same as the GP9RMs).

I swore I seen an SD40u with the regular cab front at one point in time?

Needed to get the Photoshop juices going so I did up a quick NS reskin this afternoon of NS 9634 with substantial fire damage.

Still have to do some work on it before adding to the file library.

Here's the photo reference.
