A basic video depicting traffic ribbons on 3DTrains Scaleroads. Cars, pickups and trucks have different sounds. I just grabbed whatever sounds I could find... eg. the truck uses a GP9 notch 5 .dav. This is just temporary until I find time to replace them with some better recordings. Vehicle lengths are fixed. Still lots of tweaking that can be done in the sound files to get better doppler effect and graduation etc... but I've got the guts of what I need to add to my route knowing that I can make the tweaks later without having to redo anything.

Man, how about that Youtube stabalization thing!?! I clicked yes to have the video stabalized then watched it and almost threw up from the wobbly motion. I've just reverted it to the original. Sorry about that.

Hobo train, what specifically would you like?

I will be sending Papa Express the mods for SMM Digital crossings ASAP and I guess he'll include them with the originals. Then I'll figure out something with 3DTrains to offer a vehicle length patch (really it's rediculously easy to fix yourself with RW_Tools). The traffic ribbons will come with the route. Nothing too special about them anyway, they're just customised to the route so that I can mimic the prototype traffic. And the vehicle sounds... I guess I could make a patch for the default Scaleroads vehicles just aliasing the Kuju sound if 3DTrains are cool with it. If/when I upgrade the vehicle sounds I will find a way to share them... probably as drop-in files for the 3DTrains vehicles.

If you're building a route, keep in touch. I've got some custom goodies that can be easily converted to you're developer name then modified to suit your route specifically. Speaking of which... Seriously, next route I build I'm just going to make custom .bin & LUA files for every crossing and name them like the prototype. Sounds excessive but it would actually be quicker in the long-run and the files are tiny!

Oh I forgot to mention... the crossing uses Dan Vystrcil's (PapaXpress) Concrete Track Pads, available in the library. I asked a while back if anyone could whip something up and a few days later there they were! Champion. Cheers Paps !*cheers*!

Haha, if you think train spotters take risks, wait 'till you meet traffic spotters.

Proof read all the scripts. Just testing crossings now to make sure everything activates properly. Then have to figure out why bells didn't keep ringing when the arms were raising (like in the video, which is a combination of crossings structures with bells and arms without bells... which might have something to do with why Jerry used two almost identical LUA's). I'll figure it out.

I can't solve this one. The closest fix I have is to use a third LUA with a longer closing deactivation distance for the bellsso they stay ringing until the arms are up, which works if you go exactly to track speed, but if you vary from track speed or use the crossings on track with speed different to what I've set them up for it wont work. The bells will keep ringing for as long as it takes you to travel the extra distance. The best way to do it would be to edit the animation somehow so that it triggers at negative-however longer it takes to go up and it would complete the sequence precisely at the deactivation of the bells. But that's beyond my ability.

I'm gonna have to leave this one for now and come back to it later. Gotta get on with the route. Other than that issue, they're ready to go. Sending to Dan now.

Yeah I was thinking about that the other day but again, it's beyond my ability. I haven't created any of these crossings, all I've done is made a set of slightly modified copies. SMMDigital is the genius behind them but unfortunately he is no longer around. Someone here will understand how the animation scripts etc... work. Hopefully they might find time to look into it.
